After mentioning it to another DM here who found it useful, I figured it'd make a post to share with everyone.
If you're having trouble filling in a group locally, whether your player or DM, try attending a local Adventurer's League group! I've used https://warhorn.net/ to find them, or you could also try http://locator.wizards.com/#brand=dnd (if you're aware of other sites to search through, reply below!). Even if you aren't a fan of the structure of Adventurer's League, people often go because they don't have a group to play with otherwise. My buddies and I have been approached by multiple players and DMs looking to play inhome games outside of Adventurer's League.
For DMs, you can run a few games at the game store's Adventurer's League and get a few extra benefits. For one, stores often give free store credit, snacks, etc. to DMs as incentive to host games. Second, you get a chance to see how people play, and see if they would be a good fit for your campaign. Once you find enough, feel free to invite them to a home game (or maybe just a personal game at the same store, not during Adventurer's League play). Same with players; getting a feel for your DM can be pretty important. Not to mention, it's pretty fun to play a one-off for 4 hours with completely random people and see what everyone comes up with.
Just thought I'd share as I know it can occasionally be pretty hard to find players. Good luck everyone!
(Sorry if this isn't the appropriate forum -- I figured this would be the most applicable place for the intended audience)
