Game: D&D 5e, some homebrew for realism and fun Group type: PbP/chat (FB messenger), online (video call) Experience: DMing for 10 years, our two current players have been playing 10+ and 5+ years Location/Timezone: EST Schedule: PbP via chat: whenever able, usually several posts daily depending on availability Online via video call: weekends, usually Saturday evening, sometimes Sunday afternoon (we try to accommodate each other) Roles sought: 3-4 players, any experience, 18+ preferred, but not strictly; must love role-play and character development; must be open, inclusive, respectful and friendly Game style: Heavy role-play, meaningful combat, choices and consequences that change the story and develop characters, adult themes (think Witcher or GoT, basically anything goes)
What we're looking for: players who want to be part of a group that tells a great story and has fun together. We want players who can't get enough role-play and who appreciate doing so no matter whether their character is saving the grand duke, hiking through the swamp, or being captured and humiliated by kobolds.
We are roleplayers at heart, not power gamers or min-maxers or hackers or slashers. There is combat, negotiation, stealth, triumph, loss, joy, humor, and even romance: anything goes in this world and in the tales I'm inviting you to join in the telling. Creativity is highly rewarded, and I love being surprised by my players.
Current campaign synopsis: An ancient and ruined giant empire from the Time of Dragons has suddenly and inexplicably been unearthed and is ripe for exploration and exploitation. There's discovery, mystery, politics, intrigue, and a large cast of NPC companions, allies, enemies, frienemies, and, of course, villains. It takes place in a slightly modified Forgotten Realms some several thousand years and multiple crises in the future.
Note: we have started the campaign, but it's still early, and catching up will be trivial. Level 1, basic point buy, and no explicit race/class/alignment restrictions. The only requirement is that the characters must have a definite and inescapable reason to work with the group (even if it's as simple as “I just need the coin”).
So, if this interests you, apply with the following:
Tell me a little about yourself. Why do you love D&D? Why can't you get enough role-play? Why are you interested in this group? What do you want from the experience? What kind of character would you like to make? Do you have any questions?
(Invites will come via PM soon, so don't lose heart if I haven't reached out yet. I'll be monitoring this thread and posting tidbits and updates to give an idea of what's happening in the story.)
I'm interested but it's been a very long time since I played, life, war and work. I would love to get back into it, best way to contact right now would be discord which is Jaxom#8749.
We usually roll Saturday evenings EST, depending on work. My fiancee works alternating Saturdays and gets home around 7pm (she's one of the players).
Current mission is purely self-motivated for the characters: they're all in difficult financial circumstances and need coin--whether to pay off debts, to find a lost friend or family member, or to simply start a new life. The exploration of this recently uncovered empire is very lucrative, and they have all joined up with an excavation team.
However, the further they explore and the more they discover, the more that they realize they are in the midst of something grand that will eventually overwhelm any other concerns. They're also beginning to form bonds, loyalties, and rivalries with each other and the various NPCs who are either part of the organization or related to the places they're discovering.
Ok i show you my interest, but keeping in mind the time diference.
About myself. I'm pretty new in the d&d world. my first game was an amazing 13 hour game. Currently in a campaign for over 1 year with friends, but we started while studying and most of them have left, so hard to keep it going. I was so excited that i read the player handbook in 2\3 days. i tryed dming a campaing, but we only got 2 sessions out of it, but the players enjoyed.
Each day I’m going to try to post some snippits of the most recent events in hopes that it will pique some interest and give a sense of what shenanigans we find ourselves conducting. We’re definitely still looking for a few more players to join our group!
Last night's session saw the team return from a venture deep within the ancient city of Parankeshar into a hidden, underground kobold temple where the worship of dragons had been preserved. Up to this point, the kobold city of slaves had showed all signs of having favored and upheld only the religion of their giant masters: the worship of a fabled and little-known giant sun goddess, Anmarat.
I'm your typical 24 year old nerd who loves fantasy and roleplay. My first venture into D&D was about three years ago in a homebrew campaign a friend was running. It was short(about 20 hours) but invigorating and I seem to have caught the bug. Why I love D&D is simple: I have a flexible and over-active imagination that tends to leave me feeling bored and dissatisfied with real life, and the feeling of throwing reality away for a few hours to play out the fantasy of heroes with friends is unlike any other. I love getting lost in playing out the life of a character far more interesting and exciting than myself. I am looking for a fun and relaxed group to continue to relive such unique experiences with.
I am interested in your group in particular because I too enjoy the RP and the emotions evoked by the game more than the thrill of battle. Don't misunderstand, the battle is still amazing, but when you have the ability to charm the bugbear into killing the kobolds while you sip a fine merlot out of your never ending goblet? Where else can you be such a boss?
As far as characters go, I am flexible and willing to try anything, although I have a few characters in mind that I have stronger attachments to. One such character is a Human Bard named Malcom, once a jester now turned spy. (If you can't tell, I love characters full of deceitful charm and witty personality). Should you wish, please feel free to contact me anytime to discuss this matter. Thank you.
Hello! I'm very interested in what you've put on the table here and it's with great enthusiasm that I wish to throw my hat in the ring! I'm 21, and am a long time RPG fan. It was a little over half a year ago that I found DnD via Critical Role, and after playing a few games myself, I got the bug. I relish in roleplaying, escaping reality in a make-believe fantasy world and immersing myself in that world and it's characters. I adore inter-party dynamic and relationships, and a story with stakes that might cause discourse between viewpoints and ideologies. But at the end of the day as long as everyone's involved having fun playing their characters, I can't ask for more.
My favourite part of DnD is the way it can tell stories. I'm someone who gets very attached to characters and their interactions, so I'm interested in this game to share and be able to reciprocate those feelings with others. It's not just my own character, I like being involved in others' stories as well and watching the party develop one another as characters. I adore telling, living, and listening to other's stories. I hope I'm not sounding too intense here, lol.
I have plenty of character ideas I'd love to explore of all calibers, but a few I'm particularly partial to at the moment are a crude, fun-loving hexblade warlock who's trying to keep his former personality in check from being overwritten by his patron and an enigmatic Gnome artificer. I'm pretty flexible and am more than happy to find a better mesh for the dynamic of the party.
Hi, I'm interested in joining your game. I relatively new to D&D, I haven't played in a full campaign yet but I have played a few games in a few different campaigns. I'm looking to get more gameplay experience, especially since one of my campaigns just ended due to scheduling. I should also mention that I'm in PST so there is a 3 hour time difference and I'm 25. I have a few character ideas depending on where the campaign is at.
If you're still looking for players, my discord is tortugadelmar#0945
I'm Kaylee! I like making people laugh and telling a story that means something. I like dnd because it lets me make characters and putting them in different situations. I recently left a dnd group that was a little too needlessly edgy for my taste, and I just love telling a story! I just want to make some friends and have a good time. I have a couple characters, like a fairly bubbly storm sorcerer, a charming pirate, and a quiet monster slayer. I can make whatever!
Tell me a little about yourself. I'm 20, Relatively new to 5e but have been playing for about 2-3 years off and on of 2nd edition with my dad and his friends Why do you love D&D? The character making to combat to unorthodox solutions. finally its just awesome Why can't you get enough role-play? The 2-3 years that I played my dad and his friends was the most fun I had in my life and always looking for that again Why are you interested in this group? I've been looking for a group to play with for about 6 months now and this group looks fun What do you want from the experience? Making a character and watching them grow throughout the campaign, And hopefully have good stories to tell
What kind of character would you like to make? I have lot ideas and willing to play anything
if you are still looking for players and/or have any questions my discord is Junker#8170
Thanks to everyone who has replied! I'm still trying to reach out to everyone and am also definitely hoping anyone else with interest responds.
Continuing a bit story from last weekend's session:
Deep within the ruins of the kobold temple, the party defeated the corrupted skeletal form of kobold Prince Kerash, who had survived the catastrophe eons ago: an eruption that saw the ancient empire of Amrahar buried in the earth--until now. Though he still ultimately perished following the eruption, Kerash's undead body had been infected and changed by strange dark energies... power that some call the "wrath" of the giants’ now-dead goddess. Whatever its origin, it is a cursed, infectious malevolence that spreads through the earth and alters any who touch its pure form--pushing them into maniacal, insatiable rage.
This kind've campaign sounds right up my alley! I'm a 21 year old Aussie bloke who lives for telling/experiencing great stories! Like many other newer players, I became enchanted by DnD after watching Critical Role.
I've been playing 5e for around a year now, and while I have played in a few campaigns, (some which were really good), I still have that itch for role-playing. I'm the kind of player who can't play a character unless I write up a 60 page (exaggerating) backstory that includes what they had for breakfast on their 12th birthday that usually ends up not cropping up in-game. (which in some cases, is for the better). I adore RP, and love engaging with other PCs and watching them develop, create relationships, and form dynamics.
Other than my obvious infatuation with RP, I play DnD for the intricate, and sometimes compelling stories that can be told. I love the emotional attachment towards PCs and their goals, and the way the game can even play YOU at times. I love the unpredictable ways the game works, such as your own PC straying off your planned character arc and developing out of your control, or being surprised by other PCs and losing yourself in their stories, too. But at the end of the day, I just love losing myself in these fantasy worlds, goofing off and having fun with everyone at the table.
The focus on RP for this campaign is what's drawing me to it, and the fact that creativity is rewarded. It feels like this is a game where the more info and effort I put into my character, the more I'll get out of it. Being at a table with a bunch of fellow RP enthusiasts just simply sounds like a lot of fun. As for characters, I have a fair few ready to go, but for the moment I'm partial towards a young Elven noble (Wizard) who's escaped a home full of political deceit, and is now looking to gain knowledge power to revive his fallen house and get revenge on those who took them down. Where else to find this said knowledge and power than these ancient ruins?
Sorry for the wall of text! As you can see, I tend to get a bit spirited about characters and RP. Hopefully it's a good measure of my interest in this game! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Thanks a lot!
Tell me a little about yourself. I'm a mid-30's guy, computer programmer, a relative beginner to D&D but I hope that my beginner rules knowledge is made up for with enthusiasm and willingness to roleplay. Why do you love D&D? I love being creative and D&D offers a great space for creativity. I love storytelling and the excitement and surprise that comes from collaborative storytelling especially. It's fun to do some voices too every once in a while, heh. Why can't you get enough role-play? I haven't been able to find a group near me, so I'm looking everywhere! Why are you interested in this group? The description sounds interesting! Hearing that it's focused on roleplaying over min-maxing and the focus on character development is really enticing to me. What do you want from the experience? Hopefully a solid D&D group that loves to be creative and play off each other for a long time to come! What kind of character would you like to make? I'd want to know a bit more about the setting before committing, but I have a few different characters in mind, from a paladin to a rogue to other classes. Do you have any questions? Lots of them! But mostly about story, setting, party makeup, and happy to work a character backstory in to have it make sense with the campaign.
I am 22 years old and have been playing and DMing for 2 years. I love the roleplaying and intrigue/politics side of D&D. I am not a huge hack and slash person. I got invested in D&D by watching Critical Role and have aspired to build a character arch in such a way to slightly even compare. I cant get enough role-play because I haven't found a group very story driven yet. Hearing that this group ua focused on roleplaying and character development is really has me excited to build a character. I am hopeful for a solid group to be creative and for a bonds in game to play for a long time. I've yet to play out a character to lvl 20. I am mostly a support spellcaster wizard, bard, or cleric. I think playing a druid would be cool, I haven't dipped my toes there yet. I will most likely build a bard as they are my crutch and favorite class. The only questions I have are what is the over arching hook the party is following without spoiling any story? Basically information to help formulate a backstory because I love writing emotional and powerful backstories.
Thanks everyone for checking out our group! I'm definitely still watching the thread and reaching out as time permits. The week is always really busy, so bear with me if I haven't contacted you yet; I intend to do so!
