The Setting

The season of harvest is over. Soon, the season of storms will be upon you. Tonight, the air is clear, crisp, and cold.

A bard came into the village of Emberstalk not too long ago. He wasn’t familiar with the village’s history. He sang of Jack the hero, who traded his cow for beans, who defeated a giant through his wits alone.

He was laughed out of town. The real Jack was from Emberstalk. The real Jack was a lazy thief who tried to steal the giant’s livestock, and whose wife cursed him for his crimes to be transformed into a hideous monster.

Tonight is Candlewick night, where the village remembers Jack’s crime. As the sun slowly sinks over the horizon, the children of Emberstalk are getting ready to place candles in their windows to keep Jack away.

Game Details

This is a 3.5-4 hour one-shot adventure for 3-6 players with 6th level characters. The tone will be pretty tongue in cheek with plenty of room for jokes.

The game will be run over Roll20, using Discord for audio, and will feature dynamic lighting battlemaps and music written specifically for this adventure.

Schedule

I have planned two sessions: 12:00-4:00 PM EST and 18:00-22:00 EST. If you are interested this adventure but can't make either session, please let me know, and I will see if I can run this for you at a different time. 

The Buy-In

You have recently moved to the village of Emberstalk. Tonight is the first time that you will get to participate in Candlewick night, a yearly festival held in the middle of autumn. You will be called upon to defend the village from a heinous threat.

Costs

The cost for each player is $15, which can be paid through PayPal or Stripe to the DM. This payment is due in full 24 hours before the start of the game.

The DM

I have been running RPGs for over 20 years. My games, like this adventure, will contain a good balance of exploration, tactical combat, and roleplay. My games are LGBTQI+ friendly. There is zero tolerance for bullying or bigotry.
