I'm looking to start up a PbP DnD 5e Campaign. I'm a newish DM and would prefer to team up with other newish players. But players of all levels are welcome!
Magelight; A Guild
Kendo'va hammers the sign into place, it'd taken weeks for it to come, but it finally had. She twisted the sign a little in an effort to straighten it a bit. She sighed and using the back of the hammer removed a nail, moved the side down half an inch and re-hammered it. She steps back, taking in the sight. It wasn't much, but it was hers. Her charter had been approved, and she was now a Guild Master of Neverwinter and the owner of this... hovel... She shook her head and looked up and down the street before pushing her way through the door and into the building.
It was a modest building, with a small bar area, a courtyard, and several rooms. Even a small stable and a broken forge in disrepair. Not that she could afford to fill or fix either, but that would change! She'd spent her life adventuring and decided to sink what wealth she hadn't squandered into this little hover. Be the compass for adventurers like her, so they might have more success pushing back the darkness. So it was today, that Magelight was open! For hire and for contract.
A year later...
You find yourself in front of a small poster in the city of Neverwinter. "Adventurer's Wanted!" it reads. "Are your pockets bare? Looking for gold? Glory? Fight back the shadow and spread the light? Our jobs board is full from bounties to beast hunts, courier jobs, to escorts. Seeking brave adventurers to help those who could use it. Come visit us at Magelight! Lighting up the world one job at a time!"
A cheesy poster, but it tells you everything you need to know.
A Note from the DM...
Thanks for considering Magelight PbP! I'm GenreShinobi and I'm the DM of this little shindig and I'm hoping to get my feet wet as a DM as well as try out a few PbP strategies while I'm at it! The adventure will be a mix of one-shots that may or may not lead into a longer campaign all weaved together into a single story. Why one shots? Because I want to practice before I commit lot longer bigger campaigns and homebrew content. I'll present the story in the form of Chapters which will mark the beginning and end of a session. Players can jump out, jump in, or swap characters freely between chapters. All characters will advance seamlessly from chapter to chapter. Players who choose to hop out between chapters will be invited to remain in the discord as an audience member and are welcome to re-join anytime between chapters. Players who leave during a chapter will not be guaranteed the same offer.
We'll be playing using the D&D 5e ruleset.
The game will take place on Discord.
We'll be using Aldo Bot, a bot I'm scripting myself specifically for Magelight.
Characters will be managed in DnD Beyond.
Activity requirements are at least 1 Post / Day at least 5 Days / Week. Obviously, more is preferred.
The game style will be Moderate RP with each Chapter having different levels of Hack & Slash
Starting Characters are Level 3. Your choice between Point Buy or Standard Array. All Published Sourcebooks are open, but no Homebrew.
Please be 18 years of age or Older.

What interests you about a PbP campaign?
Write a short description of a favorite characters you've played before
Include a Link to the Character you'd like to bring to the campaign.
Write a short description of how the character you're bringing to the campaign ended up applying to join the Magelight Guild. You're level 3 so you're stronger than a laymen, but you're no superhero yet.
2. Loved playing Ethyn-Ren Amakiir (High Elf Rogue / Arcane Trickster) - Played him with a "Mission Impossible"-style personality (aka Ethan Hunt), but DM went back to school and stopped our adventure "Storm King's Thunder" - Got up to Level 5, just broke to Level 6 and game ended.
3. I have never played a Bard before, but have been recently inspired by The Greatest Showman hit movie (note: still deciding between College of Glamour, Swords or Valor): https://ddb.ac/characters/11713186/fk77mt
4. I have been wandering the countryside, looking for a new troupe to become a part of. The flyer catches my eye as it is just the right type of work I'm looking for.
Note: I have very little experience using Discord and Roll20. Not sure what is PbP? Is Aldobot like Roll20? My schedule allows for playing on mobile or laptop, but I've had a hard time leaving home for 4+ hours to play in person, so this is a good alternative/option for me and would be able to contribute on a daily basis! Looking forward to joining the party if you'll have me! - Malcolm
2. I have a good three or four years PBP experience, both as a player and a GM (in other systems, not in DnD.) I can, and have gone on wild and lengthy tangents about the uniquely positive aspects of playing PBP, those of which you're probably already aware of. I'm very interested in a PBP campaign because they're simply my favorite way to play, bar none.

4-5. It's probably been over a year since the last time I made a character for 5E. I'm trying to decide between some multiple concepts, let alone getting the actual sheet statted out and buying all the necessary bits on the Beyond marketplace. While some more impressive applicants may already have some characters in the pocket to link right away, I am building the character from the ground up for this application as my first as I discover how Beyond works. As you can imagine, it can be a "process", so I'd like to express my interest in the campaign right away while I toil away at the actual character. I'll DM you those details just as I have for #3 when they're complete.
I'm so excited there's been so much interest :D It'll take some time to read through the PM'd applications but feel free to keep submitting them if you're interested. I'll try to follow up with everyone later this afternoon!
5. my characters love and need money. The Horse Wizard needs more horses to buy or summon, being in a mages guild will help him gain the horses he needs.
Don Gargamel wants to seduce as many people as possible (a guild being a great way to do this).
Destroyer needs money, magic and fear mean little to the Destroyer the greatest gnome of a generation
Hi, me and my friend would love to join! So ya know... To much to write. I really did try. But shoot me a friend request on Discord, Chuck#8620, and let's make some magic!
2- I’m jumping back into D&D after being gone for a few years (last experience was 3rd Edition) and I’d love to get re-exposed with some other DMs before I start to be the DM myself for a few local friends.
3- I was once a Gnome wizard who let the half orc barbarian charge me into battle (as I was in the backpack on his back) it was a fun unique take. Another time three of us were all engaged in a swashbuckling adventure in the skies. We’d gained notoriety as the Dread Pirates and we eventually received flying steeds of our own. We were all elves.
4- I don’t have a Character made up yet but I would like to relive the Gnome Wizard. Happy to cook him up quickly if accepted into the guild.
5- Chess, as he’s been known most of his life had never felt as though he’d fit in with his siblings. But being an apprentice to the local magical lock smith had taught him there was more to life than the family you were born to. You could make your own! When the Locksmith had to close shop for the construction of the new palace Chess decided to go find work elsewhere. The new sign of employment caught his eye.
are applications still open? If so please note that I am a new player and I only recently made my first character but I have done some research on how to play the game.
5. Aenwyn was raised by her human mother, Annika until a famine struck her village and her mother sold Aenwyn into slavery at six years of age. After spending three years a slave, Aenwym was recused by a clergy member of the Patheon of Naralis Analor. There she learned to fight her enemies and defend the weak. Now after eleven years of studying, she now sets out on a quest to do the work of Naralis Analor, the Watcher of Souls and ease the suffering of those in pain.
5. After becoming so accustomed to traveling alone, Yondu stood in front of the sign and studied it. "Magelight." he muttered to himself as he continued down the cobblestone path, subtly smirking. The thought of adventure and glory occupying the silence surrounding him.
What interests you about a PbP campaign? the chance to follow an interesting game, even because I have no time to have a live or voice game
Write a short description of a favorite characters you've played before: I prefer melee characters
Include a Link to the Character you'd like to bring to the campaign.
Write a short description of how the character you're bringing to the campaign ended up applying to join the Magelight Guild. You're level 3 so you're stronger than a laymen, but you're no superhero yet. Cyst applies because his party took different roads and he had a row with one of them, also, more important for him, he is urge of more money and eager to get into new adventures
My character has a criminal backround and is evil but he is short on cash and his criminal organazation kicked him out so he decides to try and be good.
2. I enjoy taking a break from my reality, and going on adventures that do happen in the real world.
3. I played a Tabaxi monk who was the most powerful character in the party...but he was the most unluckiest character ever. He was literally a black cat...
5. Hydra has been on her own for few months now. It's starting to get to the point that she's made an imaginary friend. While looking for a good hunting spot outside of town, she sees a poster on a tree. It says Magelight Guild. She scoffs and turns to Lily, her imaginary friend, and says "Pfft guilds are for greedy people with no friends, and no money". A villager who was passing by hears this and asks "Uh miss...who are you talking to?" Hydra jumps and politely responds "Uh...no one.." She searches her pockets, and sighs. "I think I need to join a guild Lily."
