Our group of 3 players and a DM is looking for 1-2 more people to join us as we start a new campaign. All experience levels are welcome.
When and where?
We play every week, Saturday afternoons at 1:30 until 5:30ish. We will be starting on April 20th. I'm the DM, and my partner and I host the game at our house. We live on the south west side of Edmonton (Rutherford)
What’s the setting?
The Forgotten Realms. I chose the Forgotten Realms setting for a couple of reasons. Since it’s the default setting for 5th Edition, all official player options are available for characters, which makes it easier on the players to work up a concept. And there’s a wealth of material for me to draw on. Plus, I grew up with the Realms so I’ve always had a bit of soft spot for it.
Why not a published campaign?
I’ve run a couple of published campaigns for 5th Edition now - Lost Mines of Phandelver, Storm King’s Thunder and Tomb of Annihilation - and I’d like to try something a little less focused and a little more player driven next. Something without a ticking clock always driving the story and something more episodic in nature (at least to start, leaving it open for longer story lines down the line).
What’s the focus?
As I mentioned, I want to run a game that’s a little more player driven. The party will always have a handful of plot lines and adventures available to choose from, allowing the group to pursue the ones that interest them the most. Some of these might be shorter adventures, while others might lead to longer story lines. I’ve always liked the idea of a setting that reacts to player choices, so I want to have elements of that in this game as well.
There are three types of adventures I would like to highlight:
Monster Hunting - these kinds of plots would involve the party dealing with rampaging monsters, protecting the settlements of the Delimbiyr Valley from raids, clearing out monster lairs, etc.
Faction Intrigue - plot lines dealing with the political machinations of the various factions operating in the area, working for or against specific factions, etc. Players can join factions and rise through the ranks or have a more mercenary approach and work for the highest bidder.
Ruins Exploration - the modern Forgotten Realms is built on the bones of countless lost and ancient civilizations which provide plenty of opportunity for adventure - from archaeological expeditions to good old fashioned treasure hunting.

Still needing players?
No, we're not looking for players anymore.
