Hey all. As the title mentions, I live in Seattle and am looking to join a game. I haven't played an online game before, but I am definitely open to it - or if I'm able to find a Seattle-based group in here that's fine too. All of my games have either ended, or I had to drop out due to a change of work schedule. Recently I started getting really into watching (and listening to) Critical Role and it has rekindled my love for D&D and I want to get myself into some games again. I have a few characters in mind that I would like to join a fresh campaign with, but I am also open to joining a game already in progress. I've never posted about looking for a group or anything before, so I am going to fill out the little template thing they have up here to give you a little info about me and what I hope to get out of a game.
Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online / Face-to-face / either Experience: I started playing D&D (and other some other systems) a few years back and pretty much fully emerged myself in it when I started, so I wouldn't necessarily say I'm a veteran, but I like to think I know what I am doing. Location/Timezone: I live in Seattle, Washington so I am in the PST timezone. Availability: Weekends are open for the most part - I am gearing up to start my own campaign with some friends that will be every other Sunday from 12pm-3pm. For now I am also mainly free during the week as well, though when my job starts back up (in summer break right now) in a few months my weekday availability will change a bit since I will have to be waking up around 4am again so I won't be able to play late once that starts back up. Preferred role: Player Game style: I am looking for a game with a healthy mix of RP and Combat. Hacking and slashing your way through a dungeon is fun and all, but I am looking for a game that has a bit more to offer than that. Games that focus on the characters are always fun. One big thing for me is that it doesn't take itself too seriously - it is just a game after all. That's not to say that it needs to be a laugh-per-minute type thing, but I think sometimes people can take the game too seriously and it takes the fun out of it. I grew up in a family that loves to play board games and other games that involve betraying each other, in a friendly-ish way of course, (Munchkin Quest is a prime example of this, I think. The most fun way to play that game is to take advantage of all the ways you can wheel-n-deal with and/or backstab the other players) but also completely understand that D&D is co-op, so I don't really want the only thing focused on PvP, but I think much like in real life, a party of adventurers who spend all of their time together are going to disagree with each other from time to time, or maybe want to hide something from the rest of the group occasionally and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
If there's any like-minded parties out there looking for one more, or any new parties forming that have a similar POV on what the game should be, just let me know!
