Hello. I run a Thursday night group in a homebrew campaign. Because we want even more d&d in our lives, 2 of my players and I are going to play TUESDAY nights at 7pm-10pm CST. We are looking for 1 more (possibly 2) player/s to join us. I will be running The Curse of Strahd adventure module. I would perfer that you know nothing about the adventure. I am happy to have new players.
This is a dark gothic fantasy campaign. Think Van Helsing, Bloodborn, Dracula, etc. It will have dark content and themes, so I seek mature players that arent afraid to get their hands dirty.
We play on Discord using voice chat with Dnd beyond as our main resource. You will be joining our existing server, so i ask that you respect my other players. They are a great group and I love them all dearly. If while playing this Tuesday night game really works out, I might maybe maybe eventually add you to our Thursday campaign if you are available.
I DO NOT want power gamers or cheaters. It won't be tolerated.
The Tuesday 7pm-10pm CST is non-negotiable, so if that doesnt work for you, i apologize.
This game will be 60/40 roleplay and combat. I like a nice balance. If you are interested please message me the following:
First name/nickname-
How long you've been playing-
Have you played (D&D's) Curse of Strahd before-
An example of a character you would like to play (not a stat block. For example- "A Dwarven barbarian that smokes cigars, has a southern drawl, and a love for tiefling women. He killed a Roc when he was 13 years old and has been monster hunting ever since."-
Have you played (D&D's) Curse of Strahd before- a friend introduced us to D&D through a homebrew game which integrated into Curse of Strahd. We got through Death House before we stopped playing due to scheduling issues.
An example of a character you would like to play (not a stat block. For example- "A Dwarven barbarian that smokes cigars, has a southern drawl, and a love for tiefling women. He killed a Roc when he was 13 years old and has been monster hunting ever since."-
A Dragonborn Fighter who grew up with a mercenary group. Their group took anything from bounty hunting and assassination to escort and sentry duty. By tradition, every member of the group had to prove themselves by becoming an adventurer and bringing back a valuable skill to contribute to their group. He is a reserved type, quick to do his duty and quick to silence anyone in his way. Cold and efficient, he isn't very charismatic but his loyalty is able to make even the wariest of party member trust him to watch their back.
What you're looking for in a group- a group that is forgiving as I am still relatively new to D&D lore. I enjoy roleplaying off of other characters and learning everyone's tendencies to integrate into my own style of play
What youre looking for in the campaign- about an equal share between story/roleplay rol combat.
First name/nickname- I would prefer that nobody would know this, and instead call me by my character name, but if you insist I can tell you.
How long you've been playing- Around two months
Have you played (D&D's) Curse of Strahd before- Nope.
An example of a character you would like to play (not a stat block. For example- "A Dwarven barbarian that smokes cigars, has a southern drawl, and a love for tiefling women. He killed a Roc when he was 13 years old and has been monster hunting ever since.")- A young tabaxi rogue who's clan was destroyed by raider/bandits, and is now trying to hunt them down. Prefers to talk his way out of situations instead of stabbing, and he is quite charismatic.
What you're looking for in a group- People who just want to play a casual game of D&D and have a good time.
What youre looking for in the campaign- Nothing in particular
Any questions or comments you have- What is the general age range of the group?
Name: Andre... Friends usually call me Dre.. no relation to the Dr. lol
Experience: Since I was a kid in the 90s and fell out of it growing up and getting back in it now. Few months as a DM so far and have an ongoing campaign.
Curse of Strahd: Haven't played or read through it but I am definitely interested! I know the concept of the campaign but my character knows nothing.
An example of my character I'd like to run(though honestly there are a few) is a half elf ranger, who's family was killed off and had to learn to survive after a raid took out our family home, we made due what was left on the battlefield and the rest I learned from my uncle. He's no longer with me as he saved my life from a group of undead. They were drawn close by the battle. Now there's a serious disgust for any undead or necromancy type of magic. His screams still haunt me as it wasn't long ago.
What I am looking for in a grp: Something long term, a balance of laughter, sorrow, glory and coin..cheering a glass of bourbon to a great session or adventure. Also, a steady schedule as I do have a campaign I DM and prep for.(Does not interfere with Tuesdays).
I have a good mic, separate from my headset since I DM across discord or skype. If needed I could use a different backstory as I have other characters in a pool of them.
How long you've been playing- played a lot up until the late 90’s just now getting back into it and 5E Been playing 5E for a 6 months I love playing modules.
Have you played (D&D's) Curse of Strahd before- yes but It was the original one and 25 years ago not sure on the current story and legend It will be like it is brand new
An example of a character you would like to play: Variant Human Ranger or rouge or fighter or even a bard (whatever works for the party)with an archaeologist background spoof on Indiana Jones uses a whip and a hand crossbow, loves exploring caves ruins dungeons and cities but hates Bats. I would be willing to play anything though to help the party out
What you're looking for in a group-not a lot of friction hopefully some like minded folks who like advancing the story through good role play and good teamwork
What youre looking for in the campaign- would love to get through a complete module. Have been in a couple of groups but we never finished for a litany of reasons. Would be interested in your regular campaign as well if I was a good fit.
time works great for me too been looking for a game during the week.
How long you've been playing- only played 2 sessions so far
Have you played (D&D's) Curse of Strahd before- nope
An example of a character you would like to play- a wood elf monk who was raised in a temple after his father murdered his mother in a drunken rage, and his father was killed by the temple leader to protect him.
What you're looking for in a group- a good time and people i can get to know and have fun with
What youre looking for in the campaign- story i can lose myself in, and a chance to play more d&d as well as playing an official module.
Any questions or comments you have- do you have content sharing capability? i currently only have access to the basic rules, which i can work with, just wondering if i would have more to work with.
Have you played Curse of Strahd before? No i have not but i would like to try it out
My character a rough lizard who is a thief but is trying to redeem himself
What your looking for in a new group? just to have fun and getting to know the other characters I'm still kinda new to the d&d lore i enjoy being my character
What are you looking for in the campaign? Getting to know the other characters and the story itself
I've been playing 5e for a few months now. I was heavy into the game back in the '90s with 2eAD&D (Still have a couple of the old books laying around). I started playing Pathfinder with friends several years back, and PF had been my RPG of choice until a few of us made the switch to 5e. I'm enjoying 5e and have a FTF group I play with twice a month.
I have never played Curse of Strahd and would very much like to participate in a campaign. I should probably also mention I have never played D&D over the internet either.
One of my favorite parts of this game is creating characters. I have an idea to try out, a mid 20's human bard. He got into the monster hunting trade by trying to impress a young beauty. Fabricating a vivid but totally untrue tale he convinced the lass, and the rest of the tavern, of his monster-slaying abilities. This backfired and got him drafted by the mayor into an adventuring group to kill a local hag. Whether by luck or ploy of the gods he alone returned, the hag and his companions all dead. With his return, the town hailed him a mighty monster hunter and showered him with ale and coin, the tales of Henrick Silver Spike were born that night. Little did they know that intrepid young Henrick had simply hidden while the combat was taking place, watching as the Hag and Fighter exchanged killing blows. Who was he to correct the townsfolk, they seemed to need a hero, and after all, he had gone all the way out there, ruining his best pair of boots in the process! Maybe he would tell them tomorrow, but right now he had warm food in his belly, good ale in his mug and the town beauty whispering in his ear.
*For the past year, Henrick has traveled from town to town singing his own praises allowing his reputation to grow. Retelling the tale of the Hag and Henrick Silver Spikes epic battle. I'm not sure if he is really a coward, or how he would react to a group of "real" monster hunters finding out he has no idea about actual monster hunting, but I look forward to finding out.
I'm looking for a mature group that is looking to play to have fun.
I'm excited to experience this iconic module of D&D.
