Happy to give run downs on things that might not apply to your character.
A bit of writing from the history of the world and its supposed beginning of history:
The Age of Chaos is a time referred to around roughly several thousands of years ago. At the time when only Orcs, Gnomes, Dwarves, High Elves, Dragonborne, Dragons, Goliaths and Tieflings existed.
Each race would begin to create kingdoms and claim lands, thus gaining more and more power for the gods they worshipped. But this would also lead to tension between the races, the dwarves and the elves fought wars almost continuously and utterly hated each other. The two races would call upon the others with gifts and promises of glory. Causing sides to be created, however it is around this time that Hamescus would begin creating a godly weapon known as Hamescus the Hammer. A hammer designed with the Broken Man’s assistance and holy divinity. Giving it enough power to kill thousands.
Now this weapon would go on to become a darker story, but before we get there a few key notes need to be made. Firstly it was around the fifth dwarven elven war that Alenta would return to her first creations. In which she is said to have grown sad with so much conflict between her children who she so desperately wanted to get along. It is said that the sadness became to much and lead her to being bedridden and eventually passing in her sleep.
The lady of time would go on to believe that this was the work of Stone the Corrupt for his hatred of her and the loss of his son who she refused to allow him to bring back. Many believe that poison or some sort of forbidden sorcery was used against her. Either way, the Tiefling race would grow to blame Stone The Corrupt and side with the elves in the continuous conflict between the elves and dwarves. Which would tip the scales majorly against the dwarves, causing more losses then victories as time went on.
Finally the line was drawn when the Lady of Time was seen on one of the battlefields cutting down dwarves left and right. Some report her laughing as she slaughtered all those who contested her. Some say she cried and shouted in revenge of her mother. But all agree that this was the first glimpse of a mortal taking on a god in full combat and the true start of the Age of Chaos. As the Lady continued her assault on what would be later known as the Field of Tears (long has the location been lost to history) Hamescus himself was said to have appeared alongside his wife and son. The great dwarven king would challenge the Lady to personal combat, while wielding his mighty hammer. It is said when the Lady accepted the entire battlefield went quiet and all would look on, as the two clashed.
The fight would be brief, Hamescus in truth would stand no chance, for his weapon was divine but not so powerful as to kill a god. The Lady would gain the upperhand both figuratively and literally as she struck a devastating blow, taking Hamescus’s right hand clean off. This would force him to drop the hammer and admit defeat. And thus the war between the gods began, with the loss of a hand and a single bought, The Lady would begin the bloodiest war the world had ever seen.
After finding out about his dwarves being defeated, Stone the Corrupt began plotting, first he took a wife and began creating gods from his children. The firstborn, Nix Riversong would be given dominion over the Balance itself, next his sons Grom and Althowolf would be born however both would choose to leave and refused godhood. Lastly Hastur the aureolin King would be born and given the position as the Deliverer of Souls until his father rose above and only then would Hastur gain the title King of Death.
Another god would be borne, a last creation and first Tiefling of Alenta, his name was Kal’Fel The Risen for he had managed to rise above his rank as god emperor of the tiefling people and gain demi godhood under The Lady of Time. Giving him dominion over the Domain of Paradise, a place that good souls went when judged by Nix Riversong.
Hundreds of other gods would come and go during this time, serving one side or the other. But the War of Time and Death had begun. Stone the Corrupt would make his next move when at the Celebration of Creation and Destruction as it had formerly become known, he would announce his intentions by sitting at the head of the table where no one had occupied since Alenta. This would cause the other gods to become enraged, for he had just announced that he a mere weakling was the new High King of the gods. When by all accounts he was the weakest and lowest of the four of them. Spurned by this, Calthun would take out his sword and slash at Stone. Causing Stone to go for his hammer in which had been granted power well beyond what was known.
During the time and birth of Stones sons, he had managed to get Hamescus to sacrifice his family in a rage after Stone took Hamescus’s wife for his own. For she was a beauty known far and wide with soft golden locks, a mustache so long, it dusted the floor she walked on. Although it wasn’t just his family, it was an entire kingdom of souls gone in one rage induced second. And upon the completion of the ritual, Stone took the hammer and headed for the Table of the Gods to begin his revenge.
This hammer had gained such power from the souls trapped inside it that it allowed for even the death of a god when hit. The first victim Calthun would do battle right then and there between Stone and himself. While the other gods fled as they saw the strength the hammer possesed. Blow after blow, Calthun could not keep up with Stone who had been at war so long that his veterancy would put any man, mortal or otherwise, to shame. The two fought for all but a minute before Stone slammed the hammer hard into Calthuns chest, causing ribs to crack and the entirety of Silence to shake at this devastation. From Calthuns blood a new race would be born, the Yuan Ti. For when the blow was struck some say a snake had slithered by and took a drink of the blood spilled. Creating the first queen Malsa the Ruby who would go on to create her massive hive of brothers and sisters.
Calthun having been dealt a destructive blow would choose to retreat from here, creating a door to a dimension which was said to be so dark and menacing that even Stone himself would not enter. This would be where Calthun would hide and fester, corrupting his soul from the anger he felt and the darkness that crept into his mind. Here he would remain until the final battle to decide the fate of the world.
Tanarukk would be next to feel the blow of Stone “The Hammer” as he would be known for a time. For when Stone finished with Calthun, he would follow after Tanarukk, deciding he was the next greatest threat. Here both Saphira and Tanarukk would do battle with Stone, but even the two of them were not strong enough to hold his ambition back. For Stone would aim only for Saphira who Tanarukk would continue to take blows for to protect the one he loved. Blow after blow, broken bone after broken bone. Tanarukk would be beaten so badly that in the end he could not even stand. Stone would offer him a pardon, only if in exchange he remained in the Domain of Paradise from here on out and gave up his marriage to Saphira. Tanarukk would have no choice but to accept, for he could no longer protect her and refused to see her die. Even though she protested continuously, boasting of her strength and the strength of his children who would assist her. This is why most dragonborne and dragons alike to this day, still hate the High King.
After this the next battle would begin, however this time it was between the sides of mortals. A great dwarven emperor had risen up among the ranks. He was known as The Flamed Pick, and he would begin a devastating campaign against all who opposed him. However it was not his war efforts that make him so famous during this time, but rather his miners. He instructed his miners to dig deeper for ores not known yet to mortals to gain the upperhand. And one solemn day, dark and dreary, the miners cracked the seal to something long forgotten. None know for sure where they came from, or when, but all agree that they were as old as Alenta herself and just as powerful. The forgotten gods, their names although lost from history can be recalled as “The Lucky”, “The Stolen” and “The Crystal”, three gods whose domains are unknown but are said to have changed the face of Silence in all its glory.
Along with the forgotten ones came the Tabaxi, hordes of them poured out of the earth with great anger. A new god would be born among them as well, a god of Rage and Devastation. A God known as “The Striped Fang”. A tabaxi warrior so powerful that rage itself was his/her element.
After this much of history is lost, many battles are fought on both sides. Many accounts speak of numerous battles between the forgotten gods and Alenta’s Chosen, some talk of an alliance between Stone the Corrupt and the forgotten gods. Some say that The Lady of time tried to turn back time to bring her dear mother back. But all accounts agree on one thing, the final battle happened the year of 1 A.C the month of the red moon, the day of the forgotten, on the battlefield known as Gral’s Grave.
The battle would begin with three opposing sides, Stone the Corrupt and his horde of dwarves followed by two other creations of Hobgoblins and Bugbears that he used. The Lady of Time and Calthun the Destroyer with their tieflings, elves, Goliaths, and a few Dragons on another. And then the three forgotten gods with orcs, tabaxi and “The Striped Fang”. Notably those who chose to stay at home being of both gnomes and dragonborne would watch on in terror as the battle went on for the fate of the world. Also it is noted that the orcs had sworn allegiance to the god of rage in exchange for more power, giving them a black tint for those who chose to fight over there green counterparts who stayed home. Some say this is what separates the two species.
As the bought began, the three sides clashed, we know from our records that Stone the Corrupt would charge straight for Calthun while The Lady began her fight with the forgotten gods in hopes of destroying them before anything worse could happen. With this both Stone and Calthun fought, and yet again, the two were no match, Stone easily gained control and is said to have dealt Calthun a harsh blow to the head that would cause him to drop to his knees before Stone and beg his forgiveness. Stone only accepted it in exchange that Calthun leave this battlefield and return to his void, never to step foot in the mortal realms again. To which Calthun accepted and sent his goliaths and dragons home.
Kal’Fel would be the only god to come out unscathed in this bought, while Hastur and Nix both fought alongside there father as Demigods. Kal’fel would remain in the Domain of Paradise choosing to continue his reign as minister to the domain and avoid unnecessary conflict. But this would also gain him scorn for his cowardice and weakness at the situation. He claims that someone had to remain behind to judge and protect those souls collected on the battlefield, and that is exactly what he did.
Back to the battlefield, it is said that The Lady although powerful, she could not defeat all of the forgotten gods and The Striped Fang. Instead after the battle started to turn against her, she used half of her power available to her to seal the four away. Although she did start by trying to seal Stone as well, he managed to deflect her magic with his hammer and instead chose to focus on those who did not. As she continued the ritual, sacrificing her life energy as well as those of her comrades, the forgotten gods could not stand against her magic for it was a gift directly from Alenta herself. Giving Alenta’s soul in exchange for the end to these devastating creatures. Alenta would never be able to be revived until the seal was broke it is said. But in exchange The Lady managed to completely seal all four forgotten gods into creatures of great weakness. The Lucky became a crystal lizard, The Stolen turned into a chest with teeth, The Crystal into a massive black rock, and The Striped Fang into a mighty tiger like creature. This would cause a massive route of the forgotten gods soldiers and force them to either join The Lady or Stone and most chose Stone.
The final bought began, Stone and Time… bought was bloody, the two were evenly matched and The Lady had used too much magic to seal the others away. And thus only her physical prowess was available to her, and although experienced in warfare, it was hard to compete against Stone who fought every battle personally and had slain hundreds if not thousands. The battle lasted two days and nights. Finally Stone would gain the upper hand, his hammer would finally smash through The Lady's god like spear. The spear would crack and later be reforged by one of her daughters it is said. But for the time, Stone had won. With one last mighty swing, he managed to crack time itself, smashing her skull and her body into a thick paste on the ground. The war was over, and Death ruled over all.
After this Stone would go on to become the High King, granting his youngest son the position of Death and taking up his high chair. Swearing to never be defeated elsewise give up his crown. He would be said to bless a few challenges through time but none would ever come to defeat him. Even to this day, only two have gained position at his court, The Beast, a mighty leviathan sized creature with massive tusks and a bloodthirsty hunger for battle. And an undead cloaked figure who is said to rule over the Domain of Mors alongside his chosen champions.
I'm interested in playing a Minotaur Paladin, I am totally in on this mostly because this time works perfectly for me. I also really appreciate your commitment to world building, I know that this will be a great journey if I am chosen.
