Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Face-to-face Experience: New Location/Timezone: Greater Cincinnati area Availability: Friday nights and Saturdays work best for me. Preferred role: Player Game style: Good balance of role-play, puzzles, and combat.
2. I know of a nifty little place called Woodburn Games (http://woodburngames.com/) that usually has an open table. However, I, too, am willing to travel within a 30 minute drive from the Mason area if that is best for the DM you have in mind.
3. Right now I am the only one who would be committed to meeting every other week or so - my friend group is inconsistent and unreliable. I have a friend who has never played before who has expressed interest in learning and playing so my plan is to teach them and rope them in somewhere soon.
Aaron's Card Shop on Main St in Milford has multiple very dedicated DM's, some of which have been around since it was East Side Games and Cards when Clint owned the shop.
The D&D night there is Thursdays at 7, which I can't do, but since they close at 2 am I'll stop by after work and hang out for a while and see what can be done to get a regular saturday up and running.
I will be there this Thursday to do it, probably arriving around 8:30 to 9:00. Feel free to drop by if you want. They always have a crowd, but they're a good group of guys and will always make room.
I have a friend's birthday dinner this Thursday or I would make the trip this week. I am definitely interested if they can make something work on Saturdays. I'll see how serious my friend is in learning how to play and get back to you. Let me know what you find out!
So I went there tonight, and we have 2 DM's that are willing to do a Saturday. They are new-player friendly, don't insist on a story-line setup (they're flexible), characters will need to be official game play, preference to have a build from dndbeyond's website, although not a must. If necessary we can print off papers there (provided it doesn't get stupid) etc.
For the next 2 Saturdays one of the DM's will only be able to arrive after 9:30~ish, but if we can commit before that point (even if it's just the two of us as others can join if desired) he'll be willing to switch his schedule around to work Saturday mornings and he'll be available for a 7:00 game. He enjoys both DM'ing and playing.
The other DM can not guarantee 100% availability (responsibilities occasionally on Saturdays) but is the vastly more experienced DM (who prefers to DM and not play). He will be there this Saturday (and is there most Saturdays just doing other things) so if you and your friend(s) are up for it we can start this Saturday.
Both DMs are good guys, and are more than happy to work with each other so we have a DM every Saturday without fail.
Oh, if you show up at any point Aaron, the owner, is very friendly. Just tell him you're "the other guy from dndbeyond looking at saturdays" or something along that line and he'll know exactly who you are and how to assist/help/introduce people to, etc (pls ignore horrible grammar).
All good things. All good things. I always build my characters in dndbeyond so that won't be an issue on my end. I should be able to make it tomorrow night at 9:30 and I haven't gained any ground with my friend just yet. Is there anything else I should bring aside from my character, notebook and other essentials?
You should be good. Standard house rules, no outside snacks or beverages, but an actual meal is ok, etc.
I plan on being there around 7, as the primary dm who is leading the campaign will probably get there around 4 to 6. That way we can get intros done, get a table up, map drawn, etc. I'm going to try to get an old acquaintence to show up, but it's a 10% chance they will. If they do they'll end up committing 100% regardless of what her husband wants.
Sorry, We can start at 9:30 if desired. Dinner I was more saying like pizza, McD's, Chinese, etc.
You can bring a mini, I'll be borrowing one or using a token until mine is made and delivered. The DM I used to play with owns pretty much everything and every one just used his stuff. (face to face).

Questions:
1. What time on Saturday?
2. Physical Store name? (If you don't have one in mind I do)
3. How large of a group are you/can you fit in another player?
I might know of a place to get a dm... and I can do Saturdays around 7:pm~ish within a 30 to 45 minute drive from the West Chester/Mason area.
Hey FixItTexas123,
1. Around 7pm on Saturdays works for me.

Sounds good. I'll keep you posted.

How serious is your friend in learning?

Like a meal I made myself? Should I bring a mini? I was under the impression we were starting at 9:30 tonight. Is it 7 now?

If needed the secondary DM can be a player, he'll get there at 9:30. We can start when he gets there or before.
I’m headed there now.
