Active lurking in these forums has always worked for me, pop in often to see if new games has opened and be first to apply into it. Many dm's for some reason just take the ones who apply first so it works quite well
There is defiantly a demand for DMs vs. players. Anytime I need a player to fill a spot in my game I pick up a replacement rather quickly. I will let my post fill up a bit before deciding on who gets the spot. That or I will just look around the forum a bit and see who is looking. Its really a crap shoot for us DMs trying to get that player that works out at times. Just be very clear as to what you are looking for and what you might want out of a game. Also consider being more open to various games and the way they are played, (hardcore or casual, and so on). I feel that my game has been successful so far considering it has been running for near 11 months now. My issue as a DM is at what point will it become problematic to find a replacement if that time comes again when the long term players have reached much higher levels? Also consider asking what kind of player role might be needed and be open to playing something you are not used to. Now from a DM standpoint I look closely at what the player wants to bring to the table. Honestly, there are alot of strange and broken custom builds out there that players just want to try. I do still consider them at this point in my game, but consider reverting back to something a bit more traditional. I think it increases your odds a good amount. Also consider looking for one-shots. I have noticed however that there seems to be a major lack of them for a while now. I used to see one-shot posts all the time. Last thing. Consider looking on other forums as well.
Didn't know how hard it is to find a group, anyone got suggestions to help?
Keep looking
it took me a few weeks before i found a group
i had to start dming just to do it
Yeah, its surprisingly difficult to find a group. Easier when you're DMing to get a group.
