Veteran Player Seeks an Adventuring Party

Location/Timezone: Los Angeles area (GMT-8 PDT)
Availability: Once a week, weeknights ideally. Maybe every other week. Maybe weekends. It depends on location and length.
Preferred role: Player, for now
Game style: I've been gaming for over 30 years, starting with Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, playing through all editions. I spent a few years as a Dungeon Master but would like to spend some time on the Player side of things for a while. Atmosphere, character, and supporting a good story are my favorite things, although I do enjoy bashing a few skulls with a hammer or outwitting a monster with a well-timed fireball. While I know a ton of the rules, I find them to be a guide towards solutions and not the law. The DM is the master of all and they can bend the rules and story as they see fit, in the spirit of fun and adventure. I am lighthearted and silly at times, but also enjoy diving into a serious story - committing to the character, but recognizing it's a game and we'd like to have fun.

I'm married and I spend a lot of time thinking about ways to introduce my 2-year-old daughter to the world of role-playing games. This also limits the amount I can play in person, but if scheduled regularly I can make either a face-to-face or online game work. I can’t commit to more than one game a week, with every other week being ideal, but depending on timing I can do more.
