Hi there, my sister and I are looking for a play-by-post group that focuses on a character-driven story.
About Us As Players
I am 21, she is 26. We prefer a group with members no younger than 17.
We both have 5e experience - about a year and a half. We've both DM'd about once a week throughout that year, both continuous stories and one-shots. My sister has "A Lot" (years) of 3.5e under her belt.
Neither of us are super nitty-gritty about rules and mechanics; we have a good understanding of them, but tend to enjoy when they are bent situationally for the sake of story.
We're both LGBT and do not tolerate homophobia and transphobia, in or out of the game.
We both but story, backstory, puzzle, and world interactiveness before combat. That said, combat is really fun, as long as it isn't constant slongfests.
We go ham on characters, especially in terms of backstory, personality and flaws. We really enjoy working with DMs to make sure they match and have a place in the world's lore, allowing backstory elements to be relevant in the game.
I am the type of player who likes to open all the doors, chests, windows, and find random secret things that really aren't worth finding. I will pick up all the pebbles in case one is magical.
I've played just about every class (except rangers. I don't like rangers), my sister has never played a spellcaster in her life. We both try to fill the rolls the party needs class wise.
What We're Looking For In A Game
We're looking for a long term, character-driven story game. Meaning us as players have a lot of impact on the world, and we aren't just running through an endless tunnel of A B then C. Semi-open worlds are fun!
RP and puzzles are great, player to player interaction is really really something we enjoy.
As far as world goes, we're open - dark fantasy, high fantasy, modern, steampunk, space, - we love stories, so long as they're engaging.
We prefer to start at lower levels, and work our way up. Going into a game at level 15 is a bit jarring.
An ideal situation would be to have a one-shot with the group to get a feel for how everyone plays and interacts, and then move onto a long-term story. That way if someone is feeling the group isn't right for them, they can excuse themselves without being locked into a long-term game.
We are looking for a Play By Post on Discord, preferably 1-3 paragraphs a reply. One-liners drive me up a wall, as I feel I don't have enough detail to work with. Not everything needs to be detailed, but please give me more than "you enter the room."
If you're forming a group and we seem like we might be a good fit, please shoot me a message here or through discord. My username and ID numbers are mercmerc#9447
