First time dm'ing a PBP and I thought why not tackle this head on, so here we go! This game will be set in the world of Clive Barker's Abarat, a sea realm of 25 isles, with one for each hour of the day, as well as a final out-of-time isle.
The experimental aspect of this campaign proposal is two-fold. First, you will be playing yourself... yes yourself. The campaign will begin with a party of 3-5 members at level 0, unclassed. This means you will not be able to have a character sheet on dndbeyond at first, but when your characters arrive in this fantasy land, after some acclimation, you will be given the opportunity to take one of the WoTC classes from any official source, or continuing playing as an unclassed PC in a "class" I've been homebrewing. Starting Stats will look like this:
HP 1d8(4) + Con
Ability Scores Standard Array or Point Buy
Proficiency in Simple Weapons
The second part of this experiment is the construction of the party; I am looking for a group of real life friends who know each other well enough to keep one another honest. At first, I think it's safe to say many people wouldn't be totally comfortable fighting off a gnoll, and I hope that in rp'ing we can explore that together. As you level up you'll obviously become more adventurous and more likely to take actions like diving first into a horde of those hyenas boys, but first we'll start a bit slower. I also want to stress, this is totally just an experiment for roleplay so if as a group you decide you want to use fake names or anything like that, it's totally fine, I'm just hoping to explore honest storytelling with some cool people.
That said, all are welcome to this campaign, from experienced players to total newbies. If you are racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynist, or a bigot of any kind this is not the campaign for you. I believe in D&D as a fun and wonderful route for escapism and as such will not tolerate any behavior of that kind. If you are your friends are interested or have more questions, please PM me in a group message with the subject line *The Mischief Brothers*.
