So I'm a new player (new to 5E and roll20, but used to DM a lot of AD&D (2e)), with no more DND player friends, and the nearest Adventurers League group an hour away. So went to roll20, and spent weeks applying to join games with space for 7 people, but 25 applicants. Eventually, found this concept group-- West March: War on the Giants, and having great fun. So much fun, that I volunteered to recruit more players. I get nothing out of that, except possibly a magic weapon (which I will donate to a recruit), and the satisfaction of giving back to some good people. Premise of the campaign:
-Giants have conquered all of the people kingdoms but one. You as a player are part of a crew waging guerilla war on giants and their people collaborators.
-Members of the DM 'missions'/adventures. There's a big set of them, and they're themed toward the group's current campaign goals: resource gathering, espionage, diplomacy, sabotage, etc. DMs can also be also players and build up a char in other DMs' missions.
-At least one mission/adventure happens about every day. People just announce one and people who are free join up.
-Brand new players are very welcome, and many people are new-ish. The whole community is great at coaching people and helping them get set up. No Judgment or elitism. Also, anyone can DM a mission. You don't have to commit to DMing a whole campaign. You just post whenever you feel like doing on, pick one from the current list of needed missions, and run it.
-Free to play, it's just a pastime for fun.
-Age 18 or over preferred.
-Currently 43 players and DM/players. New players added until we reach 60. At the current rate, I'd say we'll reach that in the next two week. So if you have any interest, I'd recommend applying soon.
If you do join based on this plug, send me a message on the group's discord server. Jemmus (Lothien). If I win the +1 Silver Spear for recruiting two players, I'll donate it to one of them. Determined by random unmodified die roll, of course. :) West March: War on the Giants https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/182722/west-march-war-on-the-giants-forgotten-realms
