Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online - Roll20 preferably, but I'm open-minded Experience: Veteran - I've been playing D&D since the late 80's, as a player with AD&D and DMing for the first time in the mid-90's with 2E. I'm 36, so I was pretty young at each of those points in time. Location/Timezone: EST Availability: Due to other responsibilities and games, I am limited to Tues-Thurs, and I'm looking for sessions that end no later than 11:00 PM EST. Preferred role: Usually DM, but for the purpose of this post, Player
Game Preferences: I enjoy the social & combat pillars, but I get more than my fair share of those when I'm DMing. As a player, I want to explore. I'm open to playing just about anything, but what I'm most interested in is a sense of wonder setting-wise. I don't want to know the lore and the secrets. I want to solve puzzles and unravel mysteries. I'd still play in a Sword Coast or Savage North campaign, but I'm hoping for something less traditional - an underdark campaign, for example, or maybe one of the nontraditional classics like Dark Sun or Planescape.
In a DM, I want someone who plays "by the book" by default, but is willing to go with "Rules as Intended" to discourage weird exploitable loopholes and use on-the-spot rulings that encourage creative problem-solving. I also love multiclassing (and have since 1E, so sue me), so I'm not really interested in "single-class-only" campaigns.
Characters I tend to favor casters and skill monkeys, and play characters that are actively curious problem-solvers. Favorite classes/subclasses: Fighter (Eldritch Knight), Rogue (Arcane Trickster), Ranger (Gloomstalker), Cleric (Knowledge, Arcana, Trickery), and Druid (non-Moon).
Looking for a DM? It's not really the purpose of this post, but worth including just in case. If you need a DM, check out my services on www.dmjosh.com. The majority of my DMing has been in-person, but I'm very open to expanding into Roll20 for the right group of players.
Hi there! I've been looking for a game to play as well and our time availability works well. In my search as a solo player I haven't had much luck finding a group, so I've start browsing other solo ads looking to see if anything lines up. I've been looking for a game starting 7PM or later EST on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. That'd give a solid 4 hours of playtime if we were to try and find a game together. So, with that said, would you be interested in possibly joining up to try and build up a group?
Sounds like a plan to me. I checked your LFG post, and it appears we have a lot of common (or at least similar) preferences. So should we create a new post? or just alert one another if/when we see opportunities come up?
I'll send you my Discord username by PM - I typically see those messages more quickly than forum posts.
Hey guys! I slipped onto this post looking for a format for my own LFG and read your comments. I'm in the same boat as you; a DM looking to play! I'm 26 and have been playing for three years and always end up as the DM. I'm super into teamwork puzzle solving, Role Play, and world discovery. As a player I really like to play off of the group's needs, so I try to stay versatile. I'm a teacher, so my availability runs close to yours. If you happen to be looking for an additions to the group I'd love to play!
Would you be interested in taking in a totally new player? I have never played or done anything of the sort. I live in Ohio so we are in the same time zone and am definitely available during certain weekdays during the times discussed above. I understand if you don't want to have to completely teach someone how to play, but I would greatly enjoy to learn and adventure with some chill people!

I’ve also reached out to a couple people on reddit... trying to see where everyone’s interests lie for those who didn’t post as many details

Sounds good. It has been many years since I've tried to form a group online. I'm anxious to see how this goes!
