I've DMed a handful of times throughout the last 5 years, however this will be the first time I run a campaign online. I like to write my own campaigns, that's where I get most of the fun out of DMing D&D to be honest.
This is a campaign set during/after an apocalyptic event and you are trying to right what is wrong with the world.
I look forward to hopefully have this campaign run a good while, as when I ran it IRL I thought it was pretty fun!
Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online / Discord Experience: 4 Years Location/Timezone: USA North East (EST) Schedule: Thursday 7:00 PM EST (Could possibly start at 6:00) 3-4 hour sessions Roles sought: 3-5 Players Game style: Combination of RP and Combat. Theater of the mind.
Anyways here's what you should know:
Game will be run through discord. (Voice required)
We will use either D&D Beyond forum or Roll20 for the purpose of rolling dice, but the game will be mainly theater of the mind with a few maps that i've drawn up by hand.
We will discuss platform during 0-session.
I try to stay as close as possible to the D&D world and lore but dont hate me for taking some liberties. That being said:
D&D pantheon of gods are all valid.
Only published material should be used. (No UA classes/races)
Don't care about alignment.. all I will say is, lets keep things respectful and fun for everyone. This is a no judgment zone.
You may roll your stats or use standard array. If rolling, you may re-roll 1s once. (If your score totals out less than 70, I would recommend taking standard array)
You will be starting at Level 3 with standard equipment & gold.
I am very open to suggestions as to how to run things smoother, so dont be afraid to throw your suggestions at me.
Use application below and DM me plz.
Application:
Character Name:
Race:
Class:
Background:
Backstory: (You will be starting in a tavern called Strum Tavern in a city called Venestrum - Venestrum is a prosperous port city with King Mjorn as its ruler. Times are tense, a storied prophesy says that the end of days is here.)
Synopsis:
600 Years ago - The world knew nothing but peace, food was plenty, weather was predictable and life was fulfilling and satisfying. When on a clear cloudless night sky, a star could be seen falling down to our world. It landed with a tremendous force into our oceans, causing giant waves to wash over the land. Many perished, but the true nightmare would begin when the waters began to recede. A particular evil was unleashed on the world. Where only good existed, now evil began to push its way to the forefront.
For 600 since the star fell to the ground years the constant ebb & flow of good and evil was balanced... until now.. the Balance has shifted, evil begins to overrun the forces of good. If left unchecked, all the realms stand to suffer. Everyone can feel that something big is coming, they dont know how or why they can feel it, only that they are worried that this may truly be the end of days as we know it. Who among you are brave enough to venture into the depths of evil to root it out.
Backstory: I was made in a city across the sea and used for war. I was forced to do unspeakable things for a wicked king. I escaped my masters on a boat and came to a new continent and wandered for years. One day I was taken in by a monastery. They repaired me and taught me the way of Sarkuu- a lifestyle characterized by "passive fighting." Passive fighting refers to being a pacifist until physically threatened. When attacked, they use non-lethal force, only enough to knock out or disarm. I found it difficult to embrace this lifestyle since I have significant trust issues and an instinct to fight. Then, after 47 years of being there, the monastery leader Com-Salk died from a sickness. He was the one that rescued me and helped me embrace the Sarkuu way. On his death-bed, Com-Salk tasked me with spreading love and peace. He gifted me with a necromancy tome that teachers the art of speaking to the dead. I left to spread Sarkuu to all who would listen. The Sarkuu monks worship Eldath: goddess of peace (Neutral Good). She is an official D&D deity.
Backstory: Mimic for as long has he can remember has been used by various crime orginizations to be their scout, assassin and countless other things. They always paid Mimic for his jobs that he did but it always very little, just enough to barely get by, but the things Mimic learned were valuable lessons that Mimic will take with him everywhere he goes. He's learned to track beings, stay hidden and most importantly Mimic and forge documents that needed to be forged everyone was always sad when Mimic left but not for him as a being but for his skills.
Hello there! I'm very interested in playing in your game :) The setting sounds super interesting and I love playing in games that offer more than the standard modules. One of my favorite aspects of the game is role play; I love getting into a character and acting out what they are like and what they would do. With that being said, I don't have one pre-written, but I do have a few ideas of characters I could potentially play, depending on what the others in the group are playing. I'm quite flexible in that regard. Here is one of the characters that I am thinking of:
Character Name: Lyra (tentative)
Race: Half Elf
Class: Wizard (School of Divination)
Background & Backstory: Cloistered scholar. With a love for books and knowledge, a naturally inquisitive nature and an innate talent for the arcane, she spent her youth tearing through all of the books and scrolls she could, learning as much as possible. As an adolescent, she began studying in one of Faerun's most prestigious academies (TBD- I haven't thought of which one yet), where she excelled. Looking forward to every day, she absorbed all the knowledge she could and even sometimes got into trouble over her curiosity. One day, a few years after she first began at the academy, she came across a tome- very old, written in a text that she had never seen before. With spells that she had learned from the academy, she was able to translate it, and it spoke of something terrible. Now, she has left the safety of the halls of the academy and ventured forth in search of more knowledge about this foreboding future. (This is just a basic outline, after talking more I can definitely tweak it a bit to fit with the lore that you're crafting/have crafted. Also, if another class is needed, I can play a paladin.)
Thursday at 7PM EST also works perfectly for me. I should have no problem making it for a 3-4 hour session every week :)
Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you, hopefully! You can DM me or contact me on Discord: Lyra#3814
