Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: Any Location/Timezone: EST/USA Times Schedule: Varied/ Sessions will be based on EST times. Roles sought: Players (Numerous)
This campaign will be starting up in the next month or so! I want to start getting people in now so we can work on characters and I can be available to answer questions, flesh out lore that is relevant to players and their interests (the world has plenty of opportunity for players to influence and help create lore elements), and work on other things. And people can join in and get to know their other players.
West-March-Like is how I best describe what I am doing here. I have done one of these before (still am doing it) and we have been going on about a year and are wrapping up an arc where I intend to wrap up that campaign. It's been a fun and the experience has helped me shape this coming adventure to be more what I originally intended. Players will have their central character, as well as the opportunities to play secondary characters in many planned side adventures. The campaign will have a text based roleplay (voice will be for live sessions) element in our discord channel where you are encouraged to flesh out your character, interact with the other players in game, and delve a little deeper into the city that the campaign will be based around. The Roll20 live sessions will be more focused on the session and events at hand, but will include all elements from roleplay, combat, puzzles and minigames and who knows what else.
This will have more focus on a continued story than a typical West March style campaign, but I think it still has a similar feel. I have things written up to better explain the structure of the game, but needless to say you can be a player who is heavily involved, or a player who can only play once every other week or so, and we can discuss more on that as we go.
What I Need/Expect
Players focused on playing and not winning.
Not a min-maxxer or rule lawyer fan.
Roleplay is required.
You don't need to be the type who is always roleplaying in chat.
You do need to be the type who has a serious interest in it, even if new.
Player Community focus.
Characters can come to hate one another, but don't take that out of character. Keep conflict in character, not out of character.
Take an interest in the other players, try to mingle with all as much as you can and are comfortable with.
We may joke and be inappropriate at times (18+ Only!) but keep it all in good fun. All peoples are welcome. My last campaign had a good mix of peoples and personalities and I hope to have the same again, with some coming over from the first campaign.
If you are interested send me a PM with your Discord handle and I will DM you.
It could be possible, but everything is a discussion that happens once you've gone through the rules and lore and what not and then we shall see from there.
Very interested as it appears my Friday night campaign is dying. Right now have Th, S & Su campaigns. Generally available any other night after 9 EST with sporadic evening and weekend daytime hours available (although those are infrequent as I work full time and have 2 young kids. I’m an OG 1e player who quit for nearly 40 years until my kids got me back into it 9 months ago. After GMing a Mines of Phandelver campaign for a few months, I found this site and got the character creation bug. Started playing online about 6 weeks ago and am currently in 3 weekly campaigns, one on session 6, and 2 on session 3. The 4th one that seems to be dying should be on session 4 right now but GM has been MIA all week.
That's all, I've replied to a number of PM's, had a few people send me their Discord names and have them be wrong so remember capitalization matters and the 4 digits are a must!
But building up a good little cluster so far, keep em coming!
Glad to see so many interested players. Played with this group for a while and can attest that there are good players in the group. I'm looking forward to playing with everyone
Adventures league has taught me how to mid max, but i enjoy creating characters with flaws and role playing those flaws so that shouldn't be a problem. I am a bit of a rules lawyer though, but only because i appreciate consistency. As DM you are a god and can manipulate our reality as you see fit, and ill accept the reality that is put in front of me. I would appreciate that the rules of your reality don't change to show favoritism towards a particular player, circumstances of rule of cool not included, and even more appreciative if you have a list of rule changes that you will be implementing before hand. Some players enjoy creating certain characters and those character work with specific rules in the game, and by changing the rules you could affect how those characters play. For instance i made a character who focused on grappling, but when i went to grapple creatures, my DM had chosen to alter the rules without expressing what he had done before hand. It seemed that we were speaking different languages based on our interpretations and what changes he made. My character wasn't unplayable, but the one thing that i wanted him to do a lot of I ended up never doing again. What do you mean exactly by text based role play?
Mostly I mean that there is a lot of roleplay that goes on in text channels, though the live sessions indeed have a good bit depending on if the session is more combat focused or focused on something else. If you want to ingrain your character into the story, you will engage in the text channels to build those relationships with other PC's and to a degree the NPC's, though I encourage players to interact with each other more heavily and drive that player story.
