Please read the following carefully and in its entirety before asking me any questions. Questions that are ask to me which are already covered below will tell me that you did not read everything below as I suggested, and I will consider other players for my D&D series if that's the case.
This D&D Beginner Series involves 3 online sessions for NEW PLAYERS ONLY, 18 years and older. New players are defined as those who have never played D&D (all versions) and are not familiar with using features associated with the online virtual table top service known as Roll20. Female players are encouraged to apply to allow and introduce them to the world of D&D. These gaming sessions will take place online on the Roll20 website (https://roll20.net/).
Scheduling and availability (The below dates and times are firm. I will not adjust to fit your schedule):
Session 1: (Starts Friday, September 1 @ 6:30 pm CST ~ 5-6 hours long) I will help you roll up a character you create using the D&D 5e character sheet and the D&D 5e Player's handbook. I will go over how to choose a race, a class, background, spells (if applicable), weapons, and equipment. I will go over game play mechanics contained in the Player's Handbook when it comes to combat, spell casting, etc. Additionally, I will show you how to navigate through Roll20 and help you understand the uses of the toolbar and menu items in this virtual tabletop system. Afterwards, I will put your newly created characters to the test by immediately starting you in an adventure (the fun part).
The next two game sessions will continue your adventures with your character as you grow more confident with the game play mechanics involving a mix of role playing, combat, and solving puzzles.
For those who live in different time zones, or outside the U.S. please note that my time is Central Standard Time (CST). You will have to determine if this is convenient for you if you are a few hours ahead or behind and make adjustments for your availability accordingly.
Requirements:
Availability. This is one of the DM's worst nightmare when players cannot commit to a gaming session because of other things that they have to attend to. Granted, life happens and we have to prioritize things outside of the game. I get that. However, I have given you the solid dates and times above. Compare those dates and times to any potential or planned commitments you may have that might conflict with my gaming sessions dates and times and decide from there whether or not you can truly commit to this. Also be punctual and ready when we start each session. I start on time every time.
Solid computer and internet access. Make sure you have a computer that's stable and won't crash on you that often. Naturally having strong internet access is key. Getting dropped from calls in the middle of a game battle does take away from the mood everyone is feeling when thoroughly engaged in the game. I realize having technical difficulties are unavoidable, but if there are ways to mitigate these inconveniences, please do so before the commencement of my gaming sessions.
Discord. I use Discord as a primary means of communicating with players online for my sessions. If you don't have Discord, I suggest getting on it to make sure your mic works properly way before we start Session 1. This way you can identify and correct any technical difficulties and resolve it beforehand.
Roll20 account. If you do not have a Roll20 account, you can create an account for free at this site: https://roll20.net/. These gaming sessions will all be conducted on this site.
Player behavior. I will not tolerate any inappropriate behavior that will disrupt my teachings, or make other players feel uncomfortable when they are trying to learn. Simply be kind, considerate, and have a passion for learning this stuff while having fun.
Thanks for your interest in advance. I'm opening the floodgates now...
Hello! I'm new, and would definitely love to be part of this, I'll create accounts for the necessary sites. Is there anything else I'd need to know, besides what you already said?
HI I am interested in joining the session tomorrow night. I have played a couple of times, but it was in 1983, with the basic rule book.
I want to learn how to use roll20 and learn the new ruleset. I have already created a roll20 account and I picked up a copy of the new players handbook the other day.
