Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: all welcome - beginner-friendly, but experienced players also committed Location/Timezone: games are based on Eastern Standard Time Schedule: TBD, based on party availability - currently looking at alternating Wednesdays, but flexible Roles sought: 2-4 players Game style: roleplay/narrative
This story is not what you think it is. The gods dreamed this world into existence, and the possibilities and roiling chaos of those dreams linger long after they’ve awoken. The grand city of Cusan, astride two continents, sits as the fulcrum around which the world pivots. Meeraza, city of wonders, flourishes next to its ancient sister, Meeyarha, smoldering rubble from the last great dragon attack. Far away, sullen Yenedrin watches over the undying ruins of a civilization lost. In the west, the Ruthien Emperor, god-king of Mellas, stirs with curious purpose. To the east, beneath the shadow of the Hadati Peaks, humans, orcs, and dragonkin tend to their fields side by side, ever-watchful for half-dead raiders from the hordelands. In the deserts, the slender, ageless lifeshapers weave magic of the flesh, changing their bodies over ten thousand years to suit need or whim. In the depths beneath, caravans of their diverged kin connect every side of the world, where strange energies of the underdark shorten travel in ways few mortal minds can navigate. Half a continent away, a race of small folk emerge from a jungle valley to try and understand their place within a world they only just realized is much larger than they ever realized. Over all of this sits the divine and the infernal. Strange gods, more cosmic laws than conscious entities, grant favor to mortal entities they are barely aware of, while infernal fiends conspire to siphon away the divine possibilities to fuel their Blood War. This is the world of Obydon. Upon this world any may rise, and many will fall. Who will you be? What claim will you stake?
What if Tolkien never existed? What if the elves and dwarves and orcs in the world are not the ones we think we know? What if every medieval fantasy trope lay throttled in a grave? Those are the core principles of this campaign.
This is a homebrew campaign, in a homebrew world. We have commitment from a handful of experienced players, and we’re looking for 2-4 additional players. All players will start at level 1, and the party’s path will be its own. While there are definite arcs and fundamental storylines, these are for the party to discover along the way. There’s currently existing material for about 12 months of adventures in this campaign before adding in the characters’ backstories and personal quests. There is much to discover in this world.
This is a beginner-friendly campaign using the 5e rule system. That does not mean that it will be simplistic or straightforward.
We would like a diverse group, as we want everyone to bring their own story to the table. All backgrounds, genders, and ages are welcome. We are targeting an early to mid July kickoff, potentially with a handful of session zeroes.
Roleplaying and storytelling are the primary focus. There will be combat – plenty of it! But if you choose your class and race and spells based on how well they’ll perform in combat, this probably is not be the campaign for you.
Experience: Brand spanking new! Location/Timezone: PST but I am used to videochatting with friends & family on the East Coast so should be no problem Availability: Evenings and weekends, with the possibility of availability during the weekday as well depending on how busy my work is (working from home due to covid) Game style: I've never played before but I've mostly built out a grave domain hill dwarf cleric for a guest spot in a campaign my sister runs that I would love to adapt to your world and play for longer than the planned 1-2 sessions there! (As I'm completely new I'm also happy to change this up according to whatever would be a better fit for this world.) I'm a quick learner and have a decent understanding of how the game runs, but would likely need guidance on particular rules as things come up.
If you're willing to let a newbie in, I'd love to join! My discord is kimmy#2294
Experience: New I have played a few previous games Location/Timezone: Eastern standard time Availability: I am basically free all week with little a few acceptations usually on the weekend Game style: I am fine with playing any sort of game and I have a few new ideas for characters too. I do like your idea of how you want the world to be though.
Hello there! Me and a friend would love to join your game.
Experiance: I'm fairly well versed at the game and my friend is fairly new.
Location/timezone: PST for both of us but that should be fine. But I might be going to the east coast for the summer.
Avalibility: I'm good on any afternoons and my friend should be able to do Wednesdays.
Game Style: My friend and I have and Idea for our characters and I love RP but have never been able to play a heavy RP game so I'm really hoping you'll have us.
My discord is Sambaty102#2525 and I'll give you my friends if you accept us.
Experience: Newish? I've played a few one shotters but played around with character building. Location/Timezone: Hawaii Availability: Usually on the weekends at any time. Game style: More of a casual player but I favor some weirder builds.
Hey there! I'm definitely interested in joining if you still have a spot.
Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online Experience: New, I've only played 3 sessions Location/Timezone: Australia, South Australia Availability: Afternoons after 6:00 Pm weekdays, otherwise weekends are mostly open Preferred role: Player Game style: I like the style of the game you're describing here, I already have a character I've been wanting to use, they are a Warforged Monk so I hope that would work in your world, otherwise I could try to change it up to fit the realm. I'm really rearing to roleplay this character too so if you're looking for roleplay you've got it from me.
Wow, this is one of the most impressive and enticing posts I've ever seen here. I absolutely love your disinterest in the classical tropes of fantasy and am extremely interested in seeing those alternative concepts pursued. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to apply, and sincerely hope I make the cut. A campaign the likes of this only comes around so often.
About me: I'm a 20 year old Meteorological Technician for the Canadian Armed Forces, currently undergoing indefinite quarantine and filling the void with tons of DND! I fell in love with the game about two years ago and have really engrossed myself within it. The game is fantastic, but what got me to stay was the community. I play for the people I'm playing with, and I'm generally a very laid back and relaxed individual. That being said, I do invest greatly into the roleplay and spare no effort in doing my best to ensure everyone enjoys their experience.
Experience: Im well established in DND 5E. I am comfortable roleplaying and am familiar with most mechanics, and have put a great deal of effort into becoming as good of a roleplayer as I can be. I take personal responsibility for the quality of my roleplaying and go to great lengths to improve upon my skills in the hopes that it adds to everyone's enjoyment
Location/Timezone: Eastern Standard Time (EST)
Preferred role: I typically fall into the role of pragmatic voice of reason in the party but that is entirely dependant on the character I am playing, and I am flexible therein.
Game style: I am interested in campaigns focused on Roleplay and intercharacter interaction with combat utilised as a story device rather than as a time filler. The narratively driven roleplay game style you have advertised is precisely what I am pursuing, and I believe this to be the ideal game for me. I perceive Dungeons and Dragons as a collaborative storytelling game and thus I do my damndest to contribute to said story, encouraging others and ensuring all get the chance to be in the spotlight. The most important thing to me is the people we are playing the game with, they can make or break any great campaign. I'm a friendly guy looking for some friendly people to enjoy this game with, and that's the sum of it.

Experience: Played and DM'd a lot 25+ years ago, looking to get back into it, haven't played 5e yet Location/Timezone: Eastern standard time Availability: I am in school for a career change, but in general Wednesday should be ok. Game style: Love the sound of your campaign, I am very open to trying any type of character as long as I get to have fun. I love doing backstory and character development as the game progresses and don't mind characters not optimized for destruction if it helps tell the tale.
I hope there is still one spot open for me ? As for I am a completely blank sheet when it comes to Dnd both metaphorical and in real life, since I got interessted through Videos of the critical role cast recently.
Experience: complete beginner!
Location/Timezone: CEST (central european standart time)
Availability: Currently I am available almost daily.
Game style: I have yet to decide what kind of style like, since I am new to this.
I am interested! I am relatively new to Dnd but played other similar games (vampire the masquerade) for a few years. I am in Central US time zone, any evening generally works for me. Still a little too new to describe my game style but I am pretty flexible.
