Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Play-by-Post on Discord My Experience: 2 years DMing, 1 year with 5e Timezone: CST (Close time zones are okay.) Schedule: Flexible, but players should make the time to post several times a day Roles sought: 3 more players (1 already in group) Game style: HEAVY Player-to-Player RP! Player-driven adventures. Exploration. Lots of random non-combat encounters. Shorter combats. (Monsters have reduced HP.)
Hi there! If you’ve gotten this far, this might be the campaign for you. Bring your most carefully designed character! I’m hoping to run a campaign that allows players to really RP and pursue their character goals.
We’ll start at level 3 in the Menagerie Coast, but this is an open-world sandbox, which means it’s NOT for plot-driven players. After the initial events bring the party together, the PCs guide the narrative. Think “Campaign 2 of Critical Role,“ except we’re less talented. ; )
Here are some qualities I‘m seeking in potential players and their characters:
1. Self-direction. Your character needs to have desires and initiative. They need to care what the party does next. They are not just here for the ride.
2. Spotlight-sharing. Your character needs to care about the other characters and show it! No lone wolves or overly mysterious types. A character can have lots of secrets without being dull on the surface. (Just think about any of the Critical Role characters.)
3. Availability! This a PBP campaign, but that doesn’t mean it’s a slow game. Joining this game means committing to making several posts per day. Ideally, each player will make 5+ posts daily. They don’t have to be masterpieces, but you should be willing to write at least a line of meaningful dialogue in these posts.
If this campaign sounds right for you, please post below and/or send me a private message.
About me: Im a 20 year old Meteorological Technician for the CAF, and I absolutely fell in love with D&D a few years back. I havent been able to pull myself away since, and I couldnt be happier. Not only do I love the game, but its the community that really hooked me. The people behind these screens are what keeps me coming back, and there are some truly fantastic folk out there. I play DnD for the cooperative stotytelling. Im here to enjoy creating a memorable tale with some friendly folk.
Experience: Im well established in DND 5E. I am very comfortable roleplaying and am familiar with most mechanics, though it goes without saying that the DM's word is law. I am very into Critical Role so I'm excited about playing in that world, and know it well. Additionally I have put a great deal of time and effort into refining my skills as a roleplayer in the hopes of improving the experience for everyone involved.
Location/Timezone: Eastern Standard Time (EST)
Availability: This being a PBP campaign I am available to participate at nearly all times and shall be very active therein.
Preferred role: I typically fill the niche of being emotionally supportive and far prefer playing pleasant characters, mechanically I gravitate towards martial fighting styles and party defense. I put an unhealthy amount of time into developing my characters so I hope I will live up to expectations.
Game style: I am interested in campaigns focused on Roleplay and intercharacter interaction with combat utilised as a story device rather than as a time filler. My ideal ratio therein is 80/20. So what you have proposed sounds absolutely perfect for me. The most important factor, in my opinion is the people we are playing the game with. Collaborative storytelling is something I really love, so the player driven story sounds great. I'm a friendly guy looking for some friendly people to enjoy this game with, and thats about the sum of it.
Hey i'd be interested in joining in a campaign like this, if you'll have me. I played dnd a while back and im looking to get back into it, this sounds like a fun way to do so if you'll have me. Im 21 years old and available at most times and not doing too much right now, so i have a flexible time frame to play in at the moment. I used to usually play a bard, but im willing to experiment with new classes and characters if variety is needed
But I have just completed a long campaign on Roll20/Discord/DNDBeyond where we played twice a week and role played every single day of the week.
I also live in CST.
I am a writer. I definitely wouldn't have a problem making 5 or more posts per day.
I'm not sure when you mean to start, I bought the Wildemount book digitally on DnDBeyond so I have access to it but haven't delved into it a great deal. I would like to have a couple of days to peruse the book and see what kind of character i would like to play that makes sense.
My favorite part of D&D is character development. I start with a backstory that suits the campaign and go from there (and hopefully grow). I've only been playing a couple of years but my first campaign was based in Exandria (Tal'Dorei). I played a halfling bard who fell for a young Ashari woman I met in the wood. She was on the first part of her aramente. I was picking mushrooms but wanted to impress her so I told her I was looking for a special piece of wood to make a lute. At the end of the summer she presented my character with a special peice of wood. Since my family was on the run for reasons unknown to my character (it was after all, just after the war), Even though my character made up a lot of limericks and was always trying to make people laugh, he had never even thought of becoming a bard but his father sent him into Westruun to apprentice with an old bard there who 'owed him a favor.' Years later, my character met the young woman again, she was daughter to Pat'ice, the Heart of the Mountain (earth Ashari). It was a sweet story really.
Since then, I've tried to play more flawed characters. Being as naive and nice as my halfling Bard was, proved difficult when he had to steal a Decl of Many things (he didn't have to but he did) from the pocket of a city guardsman so his best friend, the Barbarian could draw cards to try to get our oathbreaker Aasimar paladin's fate to change (Fate card).
If you choose me to be in the campaign, just know that I will be reading up on Wildemount so I can get a better idea of how to make my character.
The PBP campaign sounds right up my alley so to speak. However, I have never played an open-ended game such as a sandbox adventure, but I read your description and it sounds like you are encouraging our characters to have something to care about (not just being along for the ride). So I will need to come up with a reason to pursue or investigate things in order to compel the story in some way.
If my ideas sound right to you, let me know.
And by the way, though I played a male in my first campaign, I am a female and will probably choose a female character to play if that makes any difference.
Thanks for posting this intriguing campaign.
Kind regards,
K. Harper (I believe my DndBeyond name is either Crabitha or Roscoe. I think I have two different accounts, one for D&D Beyond and one I made a long time ago with the perfectly useless app they are soon supposed to fix.It seems I changed my name on here recently. It is in reference to a book I've written.
Life gives you lemons, make lemonade, life gives you a sword? You make corpses of your enemies, sorcery is a good sword life has given you. (Stolen from friend)
Hey this sounds awesome and i would love to take part if you'd have me. I run a PBP game on Discord atm so im already on several times throughout the day updating that.
As for character design i would like to learn more about the world before creating the character but im pretty open to lots of different Classes/races to fit the world As for spotlight sharing i've never had an issue with that although i have been a forever DM for 3 years XD But i dont see that being a problem.
I'm not sure if this is still open, but if it is I'd love to join.
Experience: I'm relatively new to D&D, but I've joined enough campaigns and westmarch servers to get a good handle on the rules, and I've been roleplaying online on various forums since childhood. I've read every word of the Wildemount book but it's been a while since then and I'll need to revisit it. Regardless, I still remember how much I loved the book and I'd be down to finally put a character into Exandria.
Location/Timezone: EST
Availability: I'm always available. I'm not busy at all currently, so I'll be free to post frequently.
Preferred Role: Mechanically speaking, I usually gravitate towards the spellcasting classes. Personality-wise, I'm comfortable filling any number of different roles depending on my investment into the character itself, and I spend an absurd amount of time thinking about backstory.
Game Style: I prioritize the story-telling aspect of D&D over everything. I love thought-provoking, character-driven stories that heavily involve their individual goals and thoughts, which is why this kind of campaign seemed so appealing to me at first glance. That isn't to say I dislike combat; I love all aspects of the game. All I care about is a fun, collaborative experience and I hope to make some friends along the way.
So I've never done a PBP but would love to try. I am currently a player in one campaign and a DM in another. Both campaigns utilize discord so im on there multiple times a day as is and posting at least 5 times is easy enough. I'm very familure with CR and would love to play in this world. I do have an interesting character ive come up with That is a wizard (chronurgy).
Definitely seems like this got quite a bit of attention and I'm a bit late to the party. But oh, well.
Bidet, critter, I am a big CR fan. I know most anything from lore to the current events of Campaign 2. I loved the Wildemount guide and even wrote a one shot about Gelidon the Nightmare in Ivory for fun. I'm also a very experienced DM (5+ years) and am always happy to lend a hand.
I'm on PST so CST is no big deal
I am also a writer (seems to be a theme) so posting 5 times a day is easy. I have a cleric and a druid that have very character driven goals that I would love to pursue and see played out. This would be my first PBP but I am up for anything and the world of Exandria (specifically Wildemount) would be a blast to explore with a ragtag group of characters. If this is still an open position, I appreciate any consideration. Feel free to DM me on discord and we can chat! whisky#4291

Hello! Super late to the party, but this sounds really fun. Are there more openings?
