I'm your friendly neighborhood 30-year-old autistic queer person, who doesn't care to label themself further than that cause, let's be real, labels are often for the comfort of others, and not ourselves.
I am a D&D addict, a video game sommelier (inside joke), an artist with more vision than talent, and someone who has a million ideas for player characters but can rarely find a game with a group they fit in with. I like to consider myself a laid-back and friendly person, but I don't like bullying, highschool-level drama, and people who intentionally derail the campaign just for shits and giggles. Yes, it is just a game, but I don't want to play with someone who isn't taking it at least a little seriously; I use D&D to cope and destress from my life, and it's very important to me. I don't want to play Clowns and Bullshit, I want to play Dungeons and Dragons.
I have been playing the game for going on 7ish years, first with playing 3.5, and now very much enjoying 5e. I've tried out a few groups lately that just have not worked out due to bad player chemistry, and in one case, bad chemistry with the DM.
What I am looking for in a game:
A nice, easy-going, laid back group here to have fun and create a good story together
Story-driven over combat-driven
Space for individual and team character growth
An encouraging and welcome DM, not one interested in harming the PC's and making it as tough as possible on the players for shits and giggles
Preferably a LGBTQA+ group, as I've been the token queer player before and no one ever gets my jokes
A spirit of camaraderie between players and DM
NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18. Playing with minors makes me uncomfortable because I swear like a sailor and I enjoy making adult jokes and exploring adult themes. Not necessarily NSFW ones, just ones inappropriate for children.
I prefer homebrew over module, but I will join a module if the above conditions are met
I am ONLY available Thursday and Friday nights after 6pm PST, and can usually manage about 4-5 hours before my ADHD makes it impossible for me to concentrate any longer.
Let me tell you some of my character ideas:
Magdelene the Unbreakable is a female paladin of the god Pelor, belonging to an organization called the Right Arm of the Sun. A woman with a beatific smile on her conventionally unattractive face, with a body covered in scars that tell a story of a painful past. She stands at 6'7", and is built like a battering ram, but she is exceedingly gentle with those who are more vulnerable. She is illiterate and fears the dark, and at any mention of her past her expression becomes stony and closed-off. She believes strongly in justice and fairness for all, in being kind and helpful to others, and can carry a jaunty tune on a flute. She is the epitome of the useless lesbian, becoming red-faced and utterly useless around any woman she finds attractive (and she finds nearly every woman attractive).
Doth Caramier is a nonbinary monk, though she uses she pronouns at times. Unaffiliated with any named order, she wanders from town to town picking up less-than-savoury jobs, drinking herself into a stupor, and violently beating anyone fool enough to stare at her disfigured face for too long. A remnant of some terrible fire, the left side of her torso and face are twisted by ugly scars, and the left side of her mouth is pulled up in a terrible grimace because of the scar tissue. She is surly and sometimes downright cruel to those around her, but she seems to harbor a soft spot for children and small animals.
Robin Thrush, aka Abbex Rivicious Poppler, aka Abbex Rodaine Beech, and other assorted identities is a nonbinary cleric... sometimes. In reality, they are a rogue, notorious graverobber, and a conperson who knows just enough of clericdom to run their most successful con: as a cleric of death rites. They move into a town under an assumed name, secure the position of mortician and gravekeeper, then spend the next few months methodically robbing every grave and crypt in the cemetery before disappearing into the night to find a new town to run their con. They are deathly afraid of the water and of heights. They know a hundred card games, a thousand cons, and have already stolen your coin purse and any other valuables on your person.
Ghost is a feral female tiefling druid or barbarian (depending on the party composition this can change). She speaks in broken common, is completely illiterate, and, more troubling, completely unfamiliar with social norms. She is a bit of a brute who doesn't seem to know her own strength, and is far too literal to ever understand sarcasm. Raised far away from civilized society in her nomadic tribe, she was displaced by a terrible tragedy, and seeks bloody vengeance against the one that destroyed her home. In the face of fire, she will completely freeze, apparently trapped within her own mind as the flames advance on her. She will respond violently to anyone who harms an animal or nature, unless the act is in the name of survival.
How to contact me:
The best way to contact me is over discord at jrodobaggins#2412, as I don't check back on this site very often. I'm on there most days, every day, unless I'm at work, so it shouldn't take long to hear back from me. I have a decent mic and good internet. I will play with new DMs or experienced DMs, whoever wants me.
