Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: About Two Years of DM'ing and playing experience. Location/Timezone: I'm in EST, so keep that in mind. Schedule: Every Friday Night at 7 pm EST, to around 10-11 pm EST. Roles sought: Looking for around 5 players. Game style: The adventure Out of The Abyss. It has a large emphasis on survival at the beginning but later expands that idea. It starts with the party being made prisoners by the Drow. I tend to run fairly roleplay heavy campaigns, but considering you'll all be wandering the dangerous Underdark, it's likely to have a fair share of combat.
Deep beneath the surface of the world lies the Underdark, a realm of endless labyrinthine tunnels and caverns where the sun never shines. The Underdark is filled with races and creatures too numerous to count or list, and foremost among these are the dark elves — the drow. Hated and feared even by their fellow dwellers in darkness, the drow raid other settlements in the Underdark as well as the surface world, taking prisoners back with them. Rendered unconscious with drow poison, then collared and shackled, these prisoners are eventually sold as slaves or entertainment in the dark elves’ subterranean cities.
Hey! Thanks for taking a look at my posting. I'm looking to run the module Out of The Abyss for a group of about 5-6 players. I have about 2 years of DM'ing experience and play 5e frequently. We'll be using discord for voice, and Roll20 for rolling and character sheets. Beginners are welcome, as are veterans!
But before you apply, there are a few things to note:
This is a paid game. Upon joining, and after the one-shot, it would be a $10 one time charge. I mainly do this in order to have players that are invested in the game and don't decide to ghost the group after 1-2 sessions. This also helps cover costs for buying the module, and for the time put into preparation for each session.
This campaign will be played weekly, at 7 pm EST going until around 10 pm EST each session. The session may go slightly longer depending on the circumstances, but only if the players are also able to.
Out of The Abyss is not a standard campaign. Without too much of a spoiler, the players will all start being held prisoner and captive by the Drow, meaning that your character will likely need to fit into that setting, and have goals relating to that.
Before the campaign itself, I run an introductory one-shot in order to get to know the players and feel for their play style. This one-shot is free of cost. I'll get into more detail once the players have been picked out.
Anyways, that should be all! Please feel free to post down below with your application for the game. I'll message you if you fit the bill for what I'm looking for and if I think you'll make a good fit for the group.
Thank you for your time!
Follow this format for applying:
Age: (An approximate is fine if you prefer)
Name: (What you would prefer to be called)
Discord Tag: (XXXXX#0000)
Mic Quality: (This isn't the most important thing, but if I can't understand you, it creates issues.)
Experience with 5e: (How much you've played, or DM'd)
Experience with Out of The Abyss: (Have you played before? Have you watched videos on it?)
Preferred Mix of Combat and Roleplay: ("I prefer an equal mix of both" or "I prefer combat between roleplay" or "I prefer roleplay between combat" or etc.)
What sets you apart from other applicants: ("I'm really funny" or "I know the rules especially well" or etc.)
Anything else: ("A Friday 5 weeks from now I wouldn't be able to make" or "I am applying for two people" or etc.)
Mic Quality: I have a good headset and good internet so voice chat is not an issue.
Experience with 5e: I've played 5e for about 5-6 years.
Experience with Out of The Abyss: While I have made a couple Gloom Stalker characters here and there and am somewhat familiar with the Underdark I have never played this module.
Preferred Mix of Combat and Roleplay: I prefer an equal mix of both. I like problem solving and role playing opportunities but of course I also enjoy combat. Maybe slightly leaning toward the RP side where I want to fight for a reason/because it makes sense or is part of the story. Not just, "here are some mobs for you to kill/let's fight just for the sake of fighting," shoved in without purpose.
What sets you apart from other applicants: I adapt well to all types of parties. I can avoid meta gaming when needed. In fact, one thing I enjoy about D&D is making a character with their traits and their alignment and playing within those parameters. Even when my gut says no, or it isn't something I would normally do, I like to buckle down and say, "but I know that's what my character would do so we're going for it!"
Anything else: I am EST with Friday evenings off so I do not have any issues with the schedule.
