Game: D&D 5e. Group preferred: Online (preferably chat-style in places like Discord; currently cannot use webcam/mic combo). Flexible in this regard when it comes to other webpages/platforms to help with the game or to chat. Experience: Completely new, no personal experience with tabletop games. Location/Timezone: Spain, Europe / CEST (UTC +1) Availability: Shaky due to circumstances; can be set to a determined day of the week (preferably weekends) and hour according to other members’ preferences, in order to plan beforehand. Preferred role: Player. Game style: While interested in characters/roleplay/story aspects of the game, wouldn’t mind balancing it with combats/puzzles/other mechanics.
Hello! I’ve been slowly dipping my foot into DnD, and I would like to find an accepting and patient group/DM, to try and learn as a player (22 years old / female), since playing seems to be the best way to learn. I’ve checked other resources too, and I can grasp some of the basics, so it's likely I'll understand things quickly. I’m willing to compromise and communicate whenever needed!
I speak Spanish and English, so I can take part of any group that uses those languages. My Discord is Rena Erythos#9366 -- again, I'm flexible with chat platforms and not averse to alternatives!
EDIT: I made a slight error with my current time zone; UTC +1 is used in winter, whereas in summer we’re currently using UTC +2. It’s only an hour difference, but it might matter to a lot of people with tighter schedules. Just in case, I’m amending this bit.
im available from 5pm-9pm cest any day except fridays and sundays: married life. I live in the US and can really only play in the mornings so our times match up well. ive played dnd for 5 years and have mainly dmed, but wish to be a player. im down to join if youll have me.
Sure thing! We'd be still in need of more players and a DM, but since you have a more defined, concrete schedule than mine, it'll be helpful to narrow down likely session times, and help other possible players/DMs decide. Like I've said, mine is not very clear yet (I'm starting a new college year, we still don't know how it will go, including classes' schedules... and we won't know until September), so to err on the safe side, I said preferably weekends.
You've said Sundays can't be for you; therefore, it would currently leave us with Saturday from 5 PM to 9 PM CEST. If anybody else wanted a more determined time frame (and to also estimate hour differences between time zones), here is something!
Oooh, interesting! I do have some doubts I'd like to solve first, though, just so we're all in the same page and to avoid weird situations. I'm sorry beforehand for my long-windedness.
The most pressing matter is the fact that I have never played before, like I mentioned in my first post. While I have some basic concepts clear, I still don't know everything. A two session campaign kinda implies a short, quicker-paced story -- is it okay for somebody new like me to join, even if it could mean slowing down things because of my lack of knowledge? I can try to pick stuff up on the go, but still... I'd need help in this regard.
Another thing is character making. As in, the character you're playing as. Planning a character concept, filling their sheets (which I'm not proficient at yet; I know how to handle stats, class and racial traits, backgrounds and personality traits... but stuff like combat, casting/abilities, weapons and leveling up still eludes me), etc.
Some friends I know (who have played DnD for far longer than me) have heavily recommended me to check with the DM in terms of character making, as to have information of their world building to fit the character properly in, and avoid being at odds with the lore the DM has planned and/or the other characters. If the session starts right tomorrow, will we have time to check with the DM (I presume it's you?) in this regard? Again, I might potentially slow or drag things and screw with the plans.
Also, user MPWLordMason has expressed interest in the post prior yours. I'm not sure they're not aware of your offer yet, and we don't know if they've chosen another group/campaign, or they're waiting, or something else... so, err, yeah.
I apologize for the awkwardness, I am interested in a potential session/campaign and I'm very thankful for your offer! I do function better with prior planning, though, and (hopefully this doesn't sound rude, I apologize...) this offer might feel too... sudden? Especially regarding my lack of knowledge.
Basically: if there's a chance for me to pick up and learn without dragging or prolonging things unnecessarily for your group's plans, if there's enough time to check with the DM making a character and MPWLordMason says something, I'll try to join in. Again, thank you!
i can help Rena with learning the basics as far as making characters and such. Iwouldnt be able to join the game due to it being in the evening. im only available in the mornings, which lines up with evenings for those in EU timezones.
Thank you for the information! I’m afraid I’m not going to have enough time to ready myself for your session today; which is a shame, because it looks like you’ve got an interesting story planned! (Also never I would’ve thought of a witch who’s a failed English major and I wholeheartedly approve). Regardless, hope you and your group will have fun, and thank you for the offer still!
Since you’re accepting another player: if anybody else around wants to take that spot in scabbersthescab’s campaign instead of me, please go ahead!
