Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online (Roll20) Experience: any welcome Location/Timezone: DMs all across the world from PST through Asia Schedule: A few times per week at different times Roles sought: Players with the possibility of becoming DMs Game style: Casual RP
Hello and welcome! We at the Library would love to have you on-board. Simply read through the info below, decide if the game is right for you, and - if so - post a response below and I'll message you a link. We play on Roll20 using Discord for Voice.
The Basics: The Library A.K.A Athenaeum is a small westmarches started by a group of friends a few months back. We are currently in Season 2 and have a dedicated core player base, but are looking for more players! No prior experience is necessary and we simply ask you be kind a courteous to the other members. There is a process to become a DM if thats what you're interested in, but there are still rules you have to abide by when running games. We play at least a few times per week using Discord and Roll20. Other than that, feel free to ask any questions you may have!
Story: The Library's setting is that of a massive, well, Library. The DM's also known as Archivists (mods) and Librarians (DMs) all have unique worlds which take place within the books of this library. This means that the same cast of characters are transported into various stories as diverse as the cast of DMs that tell them. This also means that your character can be from any world of your design as they were transported to the library! (Side note: we do have a rule against using any material lifted straight out of any source, but inspiration is fine. Ex: playing AS Gimli from LOTR is banned, but a Gimli-inspired character is fine)
Homebrew: We have a sizeable amount of homebrew in The Library, but we dont add anything and everything in. So while you are allowed to suggest material, please be aware it may be shot down. Some of the more interesting homebrew we have to offer are unique overhauls to the Fighter and Ranger classes that we believe makes them more fun and interactive. In addition, there is a plethora of new subclasses and feats to choose from.
The rest can and will be explained either by the DMs or in our google docs once you join! Please be aware there is a short interview in the Discord to ensure proper internet connection and voice capabilities as well as a read-thru and agreement to all the rules.
Good afternoon! Myself and my wife would be interested in your game. We both played in a few westmarches style games in the before plague times, and have been looking to join a game during these times.
Giving this a little bump by saying that we have received 3 new members but are always looking for more! Feel free to post here with any questions you may have about our setup.
Hey, Ill go ahead and tell you a/b the setting here so more ppl can see.
In The Library, each of the DMs tells a separate story which we call "books". Essentially players are transported from The Library into these books and act out the situations presented to them in each game or "reading session". Every DM has a different story, but here are some examples:
Ijisdar (an by yours truly): a whole world where the players make decisions on where to go and what to do next. They are currently in the city of Emerson, a Victorian-era port town, and are trying to help out the working-class of the city.
Into Uncertainty: a world where the new gods, old gods, and humanity have made a temporary peace with one another. Not much is currently known as there has only been 1 session.
Rocambole: an empire on the verge of revolution where the party has been tasked by a major noble to seek out the leader of a conspiracy
Cove: a nautical-based game where the party is attempting to hijack a pirate ship to go and save a nobles daughter so that they can investigate a mysterious attack on their favorite tavern.
There are also other worlds, but these are the most commonly occurring in our WM.
