In an effort to maintain the quality of the story and ensure that some themes don't offend people or subject minors to mature themes - I'm requiring all of the players in the campaign to be 'consenting adults'. This typically means 18+.
Stories of Morrick are small campaigns that are all set in the world of Morrick. I'm currently developing all of the backstory and important characters that the adventurers will interact with along the way. The campaign will always be running. Day after day we'll be continuing the stories that will help flesh out stories from a world that you'll help me create.
Non-players are considered 'Viewers'. Viewers will be allowed to hang out in Discord and get access to the lore, story, and ooc text channels so that they may enjoy the storyline and follow along with our players. Everything typed in the STORY channel is meant to remain in-character. No exceptions.
I prefer storytelling and roleplay to fighting over rules and roll-play. I try to be fair and have a good time.
More Details
I am a new, older (45) DM and I'm seeking 3-4 players who are interested in joining a new campaign. While I have been tabletop gaming and storytelling for decades - the controls for Discord and the bot are new to me. We'll be learning together!
Important to note: While voice chatting is 100% fine, these are not scheduled sessions. This is an ongoing roleplaying Discord server w/ bots to handle the dice, initiative, etc.
There will be a Narrative channel where I'll tell the story based on your actions and your dice rolls. You are meant to stay in-character for everything you type in the channel. We have an OOC Channel that will be used for general chat, help, laughs, etc.
Character Builds will be done here on D&D Beyond and imported to Discord through Avrae Discord Bot.
If you're interested in playing and you're new to D&D ... please: 1. Build a character using the DnD Beyond Builder. Please make sure you have an avatar/portrait set as well for your character. 2. Reply here first with a link to your level 1 character 3. Write a couple of sentences about why you'd like to join this group 4. DM me on Discord (Hook#4492).
I look forward to starting something really fun with you all. :)
Our World Map:
Current Lore
Much of the history of Morrick comes from generations of stories told around campfires, shared with friends and loved ones, and echoed by the wisest of scholars. The earliest writings on record are by an explorer named Absalon Gillcrest of Kyrios.
Absalon Gillcrest dedicated his life to cartography, creating not only the maps and documenting his findings – but charcoal sketching the world around him to give his work life beyond words.
The following is a combination of his work + a timeline of events as portrayed through story and songs throughout the lands of Morrick.
According the the earliest of tales, much of Morrick was overrun by multiple tribles of Gnolls for decades. Their God, Yeenoghu, selected one of their fiercest pack leaders named Kruuk Deathclaw (of the Deathclaw pack) to become the Gnoll Fang. Kruuk was larger and stronger than any other warrior in his pack and his thirst for blood pleased Yeenoghu. For over 20 years Kruuk led scores of Gnolls into the villages and decimated the mostly human population.
When the villages were destroyed and the mainland was void of life, the Gnoll packs started turning on themselves - creating Witherlings from the corpses of their slain combatants. By this time most of the remaining humans had reached out to the Dwarves in the North to seek shelter underground.
Kruuk’s massive wave of death and destruction came to an end when he was eventually killed by a rival pack during battle. Without a powerful leader, the Gnoll packs became far less organized and were eventually pushed back to an area that is now known as Deadrot Island. The five main races of Morrick that aided in what we now call ‘The Gnoll Wars’ were the humans, the dwarves, the elves, the halflings, and the orcs.
Understanding just how many humans were killed over a span of roughly 60 years is important. Scholars say that 80% of the humans were exterminated during this time. Perhaps this is why today, even though humans represent 60% of the mainland’s population, it’s clear that the arrival and acceptance of other races including Tieflings, Dragonborn, and Gnomes was less about a lack of overcrowding and more about reestablishing valuable trade routes and building strategic defenses.
The Last 100 Years
In order to protect themselves from future catastrophic attacks, the 5 core races formed the Council of the Five. They meet every five years in Kyrios but the meeting is always kept secret to avoid interference.
The lands were divided as such:
Humans -- Fort Solomon -- Hamlet of Azure River -- City of Kyrios (Capital)
Dwarves -- Lilly’s Bluff -- Whitecap Mountains
Wood Elves -- Anora -- Riverwood Forest
High Elves – The Burg
Orcs -- East Sliver Isle (3 Main Orcish Tribes) -- Trading post of Rothcreed Freehold
Halflings -- Middleton -- Clark’s Cove
Current Leaders of Morrick Humans – Uldir Tarrenhelm (KING) Dwarves – Tugrun Flaskchaser Elves - Syndra Elamenor Halflings – Jernan Honeypot Orcs – Lurog Van Ess
The Fear Of Religion & Magic
Historically, two things have been shunned by much of Morrick's population: religion and magic.
Because of Krukk's great power given to him by his God, both religion and magic are believed to be the root of all evil in our world by most of the mainland races. It is also believed that the God's had forsakened and abandoned the people as they were helplessly slaughtered and eaten by the Gnolls.
While not completely outlawed, openly practicing either prayer or 'spellcasting' is deeply frowned upon. Aside from a couple of monasteries that dot the landscape, organized religion or churches are rarely seen.
Rumor has it that at the last Council of the Five meetings there was talk of forming a secret force called 'The Lawmen' that would observe, capture, and imprison those found to be practicing magic.
The Orcs refused to follow the rules about religion and magic, which is why they were given the entirety of East Sliver Isle. There they were given free reign to practice both without fear of negative persecution.
I’m interested in playing a monk. Haven’t worked out much of the details of the background but the above link is enough to get started I suppose. I’m curious as to what the stories of Morrick are and look forward to building an interesting and engaging world with my fellow players and dm.

Hello, Rforrest - your link didn't work. I think you have to click the SHARE button and then paste that link. Thanks!
I have some questions about character creation but I am more than interested in joining.
What restrictions are there? Can homebrew be allowed if run through you?
Hello Indrium.
My goal is for players to have fun. Bending the rules is fine provided the other players are also ok with your concepts, overall. If you'd like to DM me on Discord to discuss we can do that.
Excellent. Still looking for at least -2- more players. If you're new, that's 100% ok. I encourage new players to come experience the D&D world with our group.
