Hello, My name is Terry and I am looking for 3 or 4 reliable, committed, and experienced players to help start a semi-serious, semi-regular old-school flavoured D&D campaign at my home in the North end of Regina.
I am a veteran gamer (now in my 50's) and I have played D&D in all its incarnations since 1979 (that's over 40 years of D&D for those of you keeping track). I am an avid collector of D&D, HarnWorld, Tekumel, DCC books and other fantasy RPG settings, and have amassed more D&D / gaming books than I could possibly use in three or four lifetimes, so I have a great deal of experience and material from which to draw for my games.
I say my game is "semi-regular" because I am hoping to play every second Friday or Saturday, but as you can imagine it's pretty tough to get everyone in the same room at the same time these days. Not to mention that it's very frustrating trying to find mature and respectful players looking for a fun but semi-serious game in this city.
I have met and hosted a great many players in my time ... players come and players go, but adventure awaits and the dice still need to be rolled! As with most social RPG games, players leave due to real-life conflicts / family issues, some try the game but get their fill and move on to other things, some literally move away to other parts of the country, and unfortunately the odd player leaves due to personality conflicts with others or disputes about the game itself. It's sad when players leave - but it happens.
Some DM's are loathe to allow brand new players because the perception is that many of the new crop of "gamers" are not willing to understand or embrace the true "spirit" of old-school D&D role-playing. I'll be honest - I'm looking for a particulartype of D&D player, but I will consider new players as long as they:
- are mature and respectful to me, my wife and home, and to the others in the game - are willing to provide their own books, dice, materials, etc. - are reliable and able to commit to a bi-weekly game - are willing to learn about what D&D *is* and what it *isn't* - actively contribute to the campaign / gaming experience
I'm definitely NOT looking for any of the following types of players:
- Rules Lawyers - "Chaotic Stupid" players - Meta-Gamers - Cheaters - Min-Maxers / Power Gamers - "Evil" or "Lone-Wolf" Players - Players expecting the "Critical Role" experience (IMO it's not D&D, but a scripted production trying to emulate D&Dand failing) - Players who want to use the D&D game to play-out / push their real-world personal social agendas
If you are unsure of what any of those type of players are, take a few minutes and Google them - and you'll understand why they are not welcome at most gaming tables.
Anyway ... if you feel you are the type of person / player I am looking for and are interested in possibly joining my game, please feel free to send me a PM (with some info about yourself and your expectations) and we can go from there.

Well, that depends ... are you from Regina and do you fit the criteria I described in my post? I don't see that you sent me a PM as I requested ...
