Hi there! I’m looking for a group for a more long term campaign involving character back stories coming into play with the world. I’m fairly new but definitely starting to get a grasp of the mechanics and also what I’m looking for more specifically in a game. I’ve been apart of a handful of one shots and am currently in a Lost Mines campaign that is starting to wind down, held on Roll20.
I am finding that I am somewhere in the 60/40 or 70/30 split between role play and combat. I love to talk to talk to NPCs and problem solved and discover parts of fellow PC backstories and react to them according to my character.
I’ve played a few characters in the last few months, namely a half-orc Paladin that took an oath of ancients after being imprisoned, that is searching for his remaining human family members and following the dirty his mother worshipped; a goblin warlock, that comes from a mountain clan that has a disdain for humans and dwarves who he sees as being responsible for pillaging and extracting resources from his lands that has made a pact with possibly a green hag after his clan betrayed a deal with her and met their fate, he is very found of ogres and giants having grown up with one that he befriended earlier in life. He collects wisdom teeth from enemies and sometimes sews them into his back and carries around a blanket made out of ogre skin that came from his friend after much of his clan was decimated, almost as a security blanket.
I’ve been working on a Druid that I would really love to play. And am interested in a scenario where the PC is a human or half-elf stat wise, their father is a human that is part of a clan that has been deforesting a region and their mother a dryad. In their early childhood their mother was punished by greater fey and bound to a small tree that the PC potentially carries with them through their adventures as their father fled. I enjoying playing characters that are half-races and struggle with being from multiple worlds and seemingly unable to come into real contact with either. I usually play somewhat chaotic characters that inevitably lean toward being protective of others around them. I’m excited about the Druid largely for the ability to play into a character that wants to protect, defense, keep balance among things that they feel innately cast out of and nevertheless pushes forward and searches through that conflict.
I never feel that it’s my way or the highway and want to work with the DM and other players always. I am always coming up with ideas about characters and possible courses of action in game but try to remain flexible and like to give in to other desires because sometimes that just makes a more interesting story and I’m all for it. I’m 33 and looking for others around that age if possible that are interested in a long haul campaign and building a world together.

So to make it simple:
Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online Experience: New Location/Timezone: Mountain time Availability: Friday after 6 MST, Saturday, Sunday ... I can work our other times but these three days are by far my most consistent currently. I never ghost a session, if I won’t be able to make it I will tell the party as soon as I can, usually a week or two in advance and will try to schedule another time. Preferred role: Player Game style: 60/40 or 70/30 split role play and combat. I like to make characters that are immersed in a world.
