New player looking to form a new group.

Just as the title states, I'm new to ttrpgs but have done a decent amount of research. I'm looking to either join or for a group of newcomers and start from the very beginning of a campaign. I'd like to explore all the possibilities of D&D and play in a campaign balanced with role play and action. I'm in the Eastern Time Zone (New York). All leads would be appreciated.
