Hey there!

I've been roleplaying (in text) for nearly a third of my life which is, pretty spooky. I know my way around making a character, learning lore, integrating with other people, but I've never been able to find a game that suits my tastes. I'm particularly looking for an online group. What I'm looking for is outlined below!

- I'd prefer to slot into an already established group, or a new group with at least an experienced DM. Pre-established friendships really help to get the game off the ground, and similarly, a DM who knows how to coax newer players into roleplaying and bonding is great.

- I like a good, 70/30 on the seriousness/humour dynamic, maybe even 80/20. Not because I don't have a sense of humour, but simply because being silly tends to lead to people doing things that seem out of character. If people are being silly, it tends to be because they can't take their own character seriously. I want to be in an environment where everyone feels comfortable really taking their character seriously, their motivations, their history, etc. I think that if I'm in a group like that I should be able to bring my roleplaying abilities in text to voice-based RP.

- I'm not a rules lawyer (haven't played D&D long enough to be able to be one), but I am a 'rules-carer'. I like it when the DM penalizes the party for not taking any food on a two week long hike. I like the DM really requiring spell components and taking time to think "Does the village shop have this component?", rather than simply saying "Sure, pay x gold." My having to think about the world and the practicalities of that world involve me in the story. And when we finally do have characters capable of leaping off of buildings into hordes of (insert bad guys here), it makes it all the more worth it for me that we had to think our way there. We weren't always Batman.

- Kind of a weird one; I like it when "adventurers" aren't a common feature of the world. The party is on a quest, but they all have day-jobs, so to speak. We have a knight sworn to help us, an elf who values our quest and has decided to come with us to (protect the world/stop the war/discover the buried treasure/etc), and so on. The characters are real people who have made the dangerous decision of leaving their little corners of the world to do what must be done. Classic LOTR-style fantasy.

- That being said, I do not expect everyone to play a down-to-earth human-human, despite my preferences for a gritty-feeling environment. If you're playing a turtle-man who worships a frog god, that's great! So long as you can play that character convincingly and not as a constant gag, I can be invested in those kinds of characters too.
