Game:D&D 5e Group type:Online Experience:a few years / veteran. Minimum age: 21 Location/Timezone:Central US Schedule:Every other week on Fridays from 7pm to no later than 11pm starting Jan 8 Roles sought:5 Players. Please review the "Campaign Rules and Introduction" before applying Game style:Theater of the mind with a good mix of role playing, exploration and combat
Overview:
I am a highly experienced DM and have been running successful D and D campaigns since the late 70s. The "Campaign Rules and Introduction" describes my play style and overall thoughts for the campaign as follows:
We play Dungeons and Dragons for fun. To that end, we play a rules-light style with a strong focus on putting story first. We play 100% theater of the mind so we do not use a virtual table top. We do not debate rules or go searching for them in game. When in doubt, the DM will make a ruling to keep the game moving.
We accept players from diverse backgrounds and allow them to be the character of their choice. The players are the heroes of the story we tell and so we empower them to accomplish heroic deeds. However, heroic deeds do not come without risk. Therefore, death is a real threat and resurrection is rare and incredibly difficult to obtain.
The campaign starts in Waterdeep with the story arc of "Waterdeep Dragon Heist". Therefore, if you have played Dragon Heist before, this campaign is not for you. Characters will advance from 1st level to at least 5th level and gain significant influence in Waterdeep shaping the Dragon Heist story. If we decide to continue past that point, the party will venture beyond Waterdeep in pursuit of goals that can take them well past 12th level and to world-wide renown. Overall, the campaign will have a good balance of role playing, exploration and combat though individual sessions may focus more in one area than others.
Please review the entire document for guidance on what to expect. If you are interested in joining and are comfortable with what is outlined in the document, please message me on Discord at oldmadmage#5957. Replies here may not get read for days so please message me on Discord if you want to grab one of the available slots. Make sure to indicate what role(s) you are interested in playing (e.g. front-line fighter/tank, healer, explorer/investigator, magic user/glass cannon, the diplomat). We need one player in each role and preference is first come/first served.
The following 3 roles remain available for this campaign:
Healer
Clerics and druids are the best choice here. A properly built bard could also work.
Magic user/glass cannon
Wizards, sorcerers and warlocks are the squishy damage-dealers that fit the bill here. Artificer can also work in this role.
The diplomat
High charisma is the name of the game for the diplomat of the group so this is usually a bard, sorcerer, paladin or warlock. Depending on class, this player can augment one of the other roles as well.
If I may I would like to be the healer for your Friday night game. I will create a cleric and give you access. My DnD beyond account name is Littlefingers
