Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online at least at first due to COVID, though the option to eventually face-to-face would be nice Experience: Completely New to 5e; ~4 years playing 3.5; ~4 years DMing 4e; briefly played Pathfinder and Star Wars Saga Edition Location/Timezone: Rhode Island, US Availability: Negotiable to a point, but requires some flexibility. Preferred role: Player Game style: RP and/or Casual. I enjoy getting deep into character and an engaging story I can engage with right back is a must, but I'm also happy just having fun and not being "on" every second.
So, a couple years back my best gaming friends and I had a bit of a falling out which combined with other big IRL issues made it difficult for me to enjoy tabletop RPGs and I took a long break. Now I finally feel ready to try this game that I loved once more in a new iteration. However, rather than try and wrangle the remaining old group back from the scattered winds and feel the empty space left behind by those I was once closest to reopening those wounds, I feel it's healthier for me to move on and create new positive memories with new people.
So just putting some feelers out right now to see if any group out there is willing to rehabilitate an old die-slinger. Early-Mid 30s, but kind of a boomer when it comes to newer sites and services, so if you use Discord I respectfully request help setting one up and I do not use social media. I go back and forth from my kids' house a lot because they have special medical needs, so while I am flexible enough to negotiate a regular time I do require understanding if I have to drop or reschedule at shorter notice.
I am also okay if things don't necessarily get going right away or if you feel I may need extra vetting of one kind or another.
https://discord.gg/hZ2ffgh this is a text based role play community campaign area. It is 24/7 you might want to try it out read the rules then go to #public-chat and ask for help, and ask questions we are there for you.. And are used to it.
Many players have their own table/scheduled home games. So if you decide to go this route you can still keep looking for scheduled games.

I am posting this as a test. I got an e-mail saying someone replied to this thread, but I can see no replies and my notifications seem to be empty.
