New Player Wishing To Join A Campaign

Heyo,

I'm an 18 year old male from Brisbane Australia who's about to go into my first year of college. During mid 2020, I became rather fond of the lore of Dungeons and Dragons, however I was uninterested in the actual game itself, finding it far too confusing and overwhelming for me to play. It wasn’t until I started watching Critical Role that I started to feel like I really understood why people play D&D, and what kind of game I would enjoy playing. Having a game where you can be and do anything you want and not shy away from roleplaying with others just sounds absolutely perfect for me.

Unfortunately however, I haven’t gotten the chance to actually play a game. None of my friends play it, nor are they the type to be interested in it. So you may understand my excitement when I found out that I can post a thread on this site to request to join campaigns.

I'm looking to join a campaign that's in it for the long term, however I understand if you'd won't a shorter one with an inexperience player. I have plenty of in-depth character ideas but am not making anything official yet until I understand the factions, environment, and other features of the world the campaign will take place in. I'm hopeful to get invited into a campaign and am hopeful for a reply!
