New to 5e but not new to RP

I've played a lot of 3.5e and Pathfinder as well as several other systems, but I want to get into 5e. I can no longer play with my old group, but they didn't involve roleplay as much as I want or play 5e, so this is an opportunity for me.

The problem with online is it comes in several flavors.

Some think of basically tabletop games over the video, audio, or text chat.
I am in a text-only 24/7 RP community on discord it uses the Avrea Bot to deal with the 5E crunch.
You show up when you are able and RP with those on and if enough to form a party go out hunting and ping a staff dm.
