I just wanna first get the meat and potatoes out of the way first.
Sunday Bi Weekly Starting 2/7/21, Using Discord and Roll 20. Game time Starts 8:30pm est.
Now, My name is Mugsy, and I have been developing this world over the last seven years in full blown earnest, and the world we are playing in is in a total of twelve years old. I have spent a lot of time in this place both design and play wise. It is built with love and care, and has evolved into what I would like to believe is its final form, with five separate campaigns already having been played and evolved the world with their conclusion.
The world is inspired both by my favorite game series and Eberron, giving it a High Fantasy Modern technological feel. To be honest, FF15 gave home to an easy descriptor of how the world is. Cars, car combat, airships, MagiRails, firearms, etc all exist and have a fully fleshed out lore around them.
The world map is large and six nations have control of the world, each with their own feel, religion, diet, culture, and government. Armor works more as Inserts into your clothing, up till mid tier medium armor where you are now wearing composites and body suits, however, some folk still enjoy the aged astatic of years past, and despite the modern era will still don full plate.
While the description seems shallow to those reading, it is only due to the fact that I can gush on this world for hours, and I love seeing players come in and wreak house...Like how one of the nations was usurped and overthrown by the last party that I played with and now 60 yrs later, the world has changed in response to their actions and now control.
Books that are Valid : Published WotC books, yes this does include Wildmount. Which means only things from these books are valid for play, no homebrew races or classes.
Tasha's? The custom Legacy is a no go for me, it just tilts me a little, however, changing around your Racial ASIs is cool with me. While most Gnomes are hyper intelligent and craft, you might have broken the mold and focused on physical training.
Warforged? Yeah, but there is some lore changes, TLDR: Prisoners of War, Soldiers, or the Poor, depending on country, are implanted with a soul crystal, that wipes your soul's memories and dumps you into a Synthetic Humanoid body, under the control of the country. You, did get all your memories wiped, they are fragmented and have driven you to flee. Will your country of Origin come hunting for you?
Guns? Yup yeah, guns exist, however proficiency with them is based on the class you have. They are expensive and you dont get to start with one, unless you choose Gunslinger.
Buying a car? Yeah. Can it fly? Sure, money and mechanics.
What kinda DM are you? I have seven years of experience and I love the games I run. I want each player to feel like they have control over their actions and have actual consequences to them. I aim to have fun and run a game where adults can come sit down have some laughs and help me create a story about their characters and the world around them.
What to post:
Player Age What Metagaming is to you. Experience with TTRGs? Something Fun you like to do. Access to a Working Mic? Yes/No
Hello, my name is J-C, and if you still have room I would like to join. First the formalities:
Player Age: 40 What Metagaming is to you: Acting on or changing your actions based on information not available to your character. Experience with TTRGs? 5 years of AD&D, 1 year of 5E D&D, 2 months of DMing a homebrew for 5E. Something Fun you like to do: Mostly D&D these days, but before the lockdown I enjoyed a good game of racquetball. Access to a Working Mic? Yes/No: Yes, I have a decent headset with mic, as well as a working camera.
Your world is quite a ways from the high fantasy I'm use to playing and I look forward to the challenge. I look forward to the roleplaying more than combat, and simply adore when my own group spends an entire gameplay session talking to my NPCs and each other about the world, their backstories, or their quests. I aim to do the same in yours, but will happily join in any scrap my scoundrel party members drag me into.
Without more information on the setting I'm steering towards a gunslinger for the novelty of never having played one, but likely more of a happy go lucky "Lucky Luke" type than a brooding anti-hero "punisher" type (Are talking car-mounts named Jolly Jumpstart on the table? hmmm). Maybe with a splash of a magical class to make things interesting. If that part of the group is already quite full, I would veer towards a full caster such as wizard or cleric, but would need to know more specifics about your world to choose a story for them.
Thanks,
Edit: Is it a Saturday game as per your title, or a Sunday game as per your starting date of 2/7/2021?
Blatant Metagaming ruins the game for me personally, if my character doesn't know something they're not about to go an act off of someone else's knowledge - any leniency will have to be down to the DM discretion and my characters intelligence (e.g., will my character know not to attack another player charmed creature - did I see it be charmed, could I tell the difference in behaviour?), at the end of the day the game needs to be enjoyable for both the dm and players so I'm not gonna be a dick :D.
I have low experience playing DnD (I've only played a few one shots with my brother) however, I have been watching people play TTRGs for years and years and know the rules, e.g., Critical role (don't worry I'm not the type of player who expects their dm to be Matt Mercer). This will be my first time playing a proper campaign however I am more than excited for it and open to roleplay.
In my free time I enjoy playing video games with my friends, mainly turn-based strategy - civilization or Xcom.
I do have access to a working mic (YES)
Looking forward to potentially playing with you and creating a cool character to fit into your universe :)
What metagaming is to me: as long as it is not pointing out something the character over-looked or missed
Experience: this would be my first campaign but I do know the general rules of D&D
Things I do for fun: baking and VR games are my two main one's
Access to a working mic: yes but I do not feel comfortable with cameras
I am brand new to D&D and would love to join this cool futuristic setting while also having these crazy threats loom over you. Having past campaigns making changes on this one could lead to a whole bunch of crazy shenanigans and complications for the party. Saturday is also a day I am usually free so that fits my schedule wonderfully.
