Ravnica: Seeking 4 Players for Text-Based Game on Discord, No Voice or Video

Hi there! I’m starting a play-by-post campaign on Discord. It will be set in the world of Ravnica. Each character will be a member of one of Ravnica’s ten guilds. They will receive optional missions from their guilds and earn renown and ranks over time, along with all the benefits that come from advancing through a guild.

The campaign is player-driven, meaning that the group must decide what they want to accomplish each day. Your backstories will guide us here, so be ready to put some thought into them. After I know the group’s goal, I will set up appropriate challenges. This makes the campaign into our shared story instead of a railroad.

Instead of using voice or video, we will play by post, which means we’ll write what our characters do and say in text posts on Discord. “PBP” is a great way to learn the game and get comfortable with roleplaying since you will have time to think and write out your character’s actions. I include a lot of art and maps to help players visualize the situations.

The ideal player is age 18+, polite, friendly, enjoys writing, shares the spotlight, and isn’t afraid to take actions that move the story along.

Game: D&D 5e

Style: Player-Driven. Heavy RP, Politics, and Exploration. Standard Combat.

DM Experience: About 2 years

Time Zone: I’m on CT, but time zone isn’t very important in a PBP game. We’ll post when we can post.

Pace: Each player must post once or twice a day. If you have extenuating circumstances, the group will understand, of course.

I'm interested! I don't know much about Ravnica, but am willing to learn. I've been playing 5e for the past couple of years and am super excited to try new stuff. I'm pretty open to my character. I really like casters, I've played a few warlocks, and I also really like druids, but would be really open to fill any space that needs filling. I enjoy charismatic characters that can talk/spell cast their ways out of situations rather than fight, but can still throw down when needed. Also in CT. If you have space let me know!

Sounds fun, my discord is Tranquil#4421. I am fairly experienced (4 years of 5e). I love the Ravnica setting, I prefer Rouges and Fighters, but I have an idea for a Warlock (a Genie) or Bard (Adept at conversation) if needed. Hope theres still spaces! Worth mentioning in case it comes up, I have ran the one shot from GgtR shortly after it came out, and joined a campaign for Ravnica but it was cut short, so I do have experience with the setting, I'm not new to DnD, but I still think this would be a great way to help with my player perspective Role Playing.

This sounds like such a fun idea. I am a 21 year old college student so the more free time schedule sounds perfect. I would love to play an Artificer more specifically a Battle Smith assuming new classes are included/allowed. If not I am willing to play any role the party needs filled, but I have less experience with spell casters. This is my first time working with Ravnica but I am a fast learner and don't see myself having a hard time getting a hold of the lore before we get playing. I am EST if time does end up mattering. Oh now this... this sounds fun!

I'm a 39 y/o teacher, stuck at home 'remote teaching' during lock downs in the UK and itching to make a start in D&D, but lacking in local contacts to be able to.

Officially I've not played, but I'm a lore nut so have a good amount of source books that I pour over, and plan characters and potential story lines alike for the day I get to play or maybe DM.

A quick glance at Ravnica and I'm quickly in love. 10 guilds all interacting and 'officially' not interfering with each other sounds like a beautiful mess that can hide almost anything and that doesn't even consider the geography.

Having never played - all classes are interesting, but if there's politics involved I'd feel a bit left out if not able to hold my own in a conversation. Having recently bought Tasha's I would love to try something a little different from there like a 'diplomat' type Peace Domain Cleric, or a College of Creation Bard - however open to fill a gap.
