Hi! I'm relatively new to 5e. I was wondering if somebody could proofread my 1st level monk to ensure I've got everything right, or if there's something I should put on my sheet I've neglected (that would be relatively useful).

Is there anything in particular you are looking for? So far it seems like everything is good. Have you tried using the character builder here on this website?

I actually found a problem with the character builder - one of the monk skills from the player's handbook aren't available to select as part of the monk class.

Also, the hermit background isn't choose-able without a subscription ,_,

The subscription shouldn’t matter. What does is if the skill or background is not part of the basic rules /SRD. If it isn’t part of the basic rules then you either need to purchase the book it is in, like the Players Handbook. Or purchase just the feature you want (subclass, spell, etc). I don’t know if they do skills separately or not. You would have to look on the book in the marketplace and scroll down. If you buy just a feature then that cost is deducted from the cost of the book if you want to purchase it later

Everything looks fine really. My only concern is how its not in DnD beyond but that's already been stated. If you haven't already, ask your DM if your character sheet format is okay. I know some DMs like to have access to the character sheet incase they need to add items.
