I am making an airbender monk subclass. What should I add to it? Currently i have gust and a few other spells available as well as small interactions with the enviroment. (blowing out a candle, shaping mist or smoke, etc.)

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone, there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I always thought way of the four elements monk was basically to let you be the avatar. Couldn’t you just use that and focus on just picking air related options?
The issue is Four Elements is just generally poorly designed because of how expensive all the features are, you end up blowing through your spells very quickly. Maybe look into mixing some Storm Sorcerer or Tempest Cleric. You could also always just go Wizard and take some wind themed spells, really go all in on the whole "plane of air specialist" kind of thing.
Thanks, i did look at that. The only problem with it is that it seriously is lacking on the agility. I probably will take heavy inspiration from the spells though.

I'm saying maybe combine those with monk in a multiclass, or just use mage armor and put some points into your dex to have a decent AC. You could just go pure on those too though and likely be fine.
There is a fan made “way of the four elements remastered” subclass that refines the official one. I’ve used it in my group and it’s really fun to play. If you want to be solely an air bender, you could always reflavor the elemental ki abilities to be air. For example, water whip becomes swirling tendrils of air that grip the enemy, or fangs of the fire snake become blasts of wind
I find 4 elements monks to play a lot like blade pact warlocks, good at melee but limited uses of awesome. If you want to run a martial air bender, 4 elements sounds like your type of character.
If, however, you don't care for the martial aspect, playing a storm sorcerer may be more suitable. Grab spells from EEPC and go drop whirlwind on a BBEG.
Don't know if you've seen it but the guys at Nerdarchy's has a four elements monk reborn that is really solid and fun. Completely fixes the class. Check it out.
Another thing to note about that sort of character is how they fight, regardless of the ability to bend elements. Our protagonist looked like he uses evasive tactics fairly often, which can be replicated with a simple Patient Defense or Step of the Wind. I swear I don't see this used nearly often enough, as my friends like seeing big damage totals.

Maybe a feature later that allows you to give yourself and X allies fly speed for X amount of time, once a long rest.
