Like, even before buying the books, I knew "Sun Soul is cool" and Four Elements is a disappointment". No one talks about the Kensei though. Why? Thoughts?
It seems to me that kensei's weakness is that it tends towards covering up a monk's weaknesses instead of boosting their strengths. In a solo game, this would be ideal, but in a group game you have other characters to cover your weaknesses with their strengths.
Like already mentioned, the kensei has already been covered. For brevity's sake I'll just reiterate what I said in the other thread.
Basically, the main problem (IMO) isn't that the kensei is bad, it's just that all of the other monk subclasses are so much better. That's really only a problem when you compare different monks to each other, the monk class itself is such a strong class that you could drop the subclasses all together and still have a very viable character. That doesn't mean kenseis aren't fun or cool though, they're just suboptimal. But if the kensei have what you want, just go ahead and play one. :)
