Hi I have created my first monk character using and beyond. It's coming up with two weapon fighting. Is this correct as I can't see it anywhere in the PHB. If it is correct what's the difference between this and unarmed strike. As ,unless I'm missing something, using two-weapon fighting givens better score ,short sword 1d6, unarmed strike 1d4? Both scale but wont be till lvl 8 that unarmed is better (1d8)
Two-Weapon Fighting is something any character can do as per the rule in the PHB/Basic Rules. The point is the basic two-weapon fighting is restricted by holding two light melee weapons (unarmed strike is not a weapon, by the way) and does not allow to add the relevant modifier bonus to the damage of the second attack.
