Hi everyone I just started playing D&D with friends and already have some questions.
My first question is about Radiant Sunbolt. If I only use it ONCE; do I need to spend a ki point to use it? My DM seems to think I do, but when I do research I cannot find that stipulation. I can only find if I want to use it TWICE as a bonus action then I need to spend 1 ki point.
My next question is about bonus actions in general. I cannot find a limit on bonus actions other than once per turn. Does this mean if I am in melee range at the beginning of my turn I can attack with my weapon (using one hand) AND use my bonus action to attack again with my unarmed strike every turn without using ki (Since flurry of blows is make 2 unarmed strikes at the cost of 1 ki point)? If I can; do I have to roll a d20 again for the unarmed strike?
When you use it as part of the attack action, it costs nothing. However, you cannot use it as a bonus action unless you spend a ki point to use it twice (this is just like using flurry of blows). This is by RAW.
To your second question, yes. When your turn comes up in combat you get an action, movement, and bonus action. And yes, you must make an attack roll to see if you hit with your bonus action attack.
