Newbie here and this is potentially the wrong area/a daft question but i'm throwing it out anyway....
After clocking the unearthed arcana vid about the twilight cleric i was curious if this would be a solid base to multi-class with a monk? All the darkness abilities combined with the martial arts theme feels like it should tie in really well but i don't want to take liberties with game mechanics etc etc.
I think cleric/monk multiclass can work out well. As far as Twilight Cleric, it seems like it would work well with the Way of Shadow, but I'm sure any of the Ways would work too.
Some of the Monk class features do not work while wearing armor (Unarmored Defense, Martial Arts, Flurry of Blows), so I assume that will be the primary class and the cleric secondary. Then it's a matter of determining how far you want to go with Cleric. The early features of Twilight are nice, just remember that they will delay any monk features you are looking to acquire. Some would say, don't MC until you get 5 levels of monk for the extra attack. That's one way to go, but I could just as well see taking 1 level of monk, then 2 levels of cleric, then monk up to 5th level to get ASI and your extra attack (7th level character). You would only have access to 1st level spells, but you would be doing 2 attacks at 1d8 (assumes you are using spear or quarterstaff) and a bonus action attack at 1d6 or Flurry of Blows at the d6's.
Picking up a 3rd level in Cleric will get you 2nd level spells. Depending on how you use your Ki points, you could use Spiritual Weapon as your bonus action attack for 1d8+WIS mod instead of your bonus action unarmed attack or Flurry of Blows. It's not concentration, which is nice, and if you need to use your bonus action for something else, like Patient Defense, Step of the Wind, etc... it will just sit there until you need it.
Just some thoughts, and I'm sure others will have their take on the combo. But as long as it is fun for you, then go for it.
