I decided to start in a place where no one can see and there's a problem, so there was a crash and the lights go out.
I decided before the game to use a plot structure of "The *bad guys* want to *verb* the *MacGuffin / NPC*, but the players *verb* the *same or other MacGuffin or NPC*."
I filled that out as "The terrorists want to cancel the Moon, but the players steal the orb." I didn't stick to that plot as we had a twist and the players decided to destroy the Earth to help the terrorists

Were the terrorists wanting the Earth destroyed to make way for a new hyperspace bypass?

No, it was because the Earth was causing an ecological disaster on the Moon by overmining the Moon's supply of CHYZ (chloro-hydro-yttrium-zyttrium).

I played my first session of this completely improvised TTRPG - https://tummy-boy.itch.io/you-awaken-in-a-strange-place/purchase?initiator=mobile - and it was a blast.
