The same thing happened with the PHB preorders -- they billed separately. My DMG order was canceled, but it was because I didn't have the money in the account yesterday (so today I get to order it, yay).
In most cases, it still had the same "charge authorization" when submitted, so banks are seeing it as someone trying to charge for the same thing twice.

Why the heck are you even buying the new books..? Seems pointless to me
It’s not pointless. My DM and the rest of my group bought them, so I bought them too. The PHB I needed to create a character for our new campaign and the other two are just nice to have. I agree though that if cost is an issue, you may want to save your money for the more substantive setting and adventure books coming out next year and just use the new basic rules to create a character.

I just think the new edition is really not worth any money, I guess it’s just personal opinion but for me there’s absolutely no need for it
The more I see other TTRPGs the more I think D&D really isn’t the worlds greatest role playing game. I still like it, don’t get me wrong, but having and playing other TTRPGs you consider just as good or better makes it a lot less appealing to get like 100$ or more to buy 3 books I really already own, the new stuff imo is just the old stuff but with different problems
Also keep in mind I’m not saying you’re wrong or your opinion is inferior, I just kinda type like I’m better then others. I’m trying to work on it. I’m also brutally honest too so I’m just not making my opinion nicer to yours or anything then it truly is

I understand. People can have different opinions. I’m pretty sure they put out a new edition every ten years or so and if you don’t buy the new edition you won’t be able to use any of the new products that come out afterward (although this new version is supposed to be backward compatible so supposedly you can use the old rules and still play the new products but idk if that’s really true). But yeah, even though I did buy it, I think you’re right in saying that the new edition is basically a money grab.
And to be honest I haven’t tried many other TTRPGs, and none that are fantasy games like D&D. My school group really likes it and really isn’t interested in running or playing anything else.

See, now that’s what I find weird. That’s like watching The Lord Of The Rings and liking it so much you never watch The Princess Bride. People like D&D so much because they literally never played another TTRPG (not talking about your friends but this is just generally how I feel) and it annoys me that they won’t ever try something new. D&D isn’t TTRPGs, it is one of the genre. While it may be good there’s other good ones too, and no matter how much you like it you might like others too. It is a bit of an investment to learn a new system but there’s plenty of rules light ones that are amazing. In all honesty, I’ve only played like 3 other TTRPGs, but I look forward to trying a lot more and the ones I have tried are quite good

Currently I’m playing a mash of one game and Elder Scrolls (at least, the character sheet says Elder Scrolls) it’s got really good character creation, everything is a skill (well not everything but everything you do) like Shooting is a skill and you’ll use that for firing, same with Melee. There’s no classes which make it a lot less ridged then D&D, you’re not thought of as a race and a class but a character. There’s also this thing called pushing, where your mark off willpower points to push a roll and try again, being able to do it more if you’re young and less if you’re older. If you use up all you’re Willpower and run out you go down your Shadow Path which is it’s own thing, definitely recommend checking out but our DM did put it and another system together so I can’t guarantee it will all be the same as I say

Because it's cool to read new D&D content and you can't know whether or not you like 5.5e better than 5e if you haven't reviewed the 2024 core rulebooks or tried playing the new half edition.

I haven’t reviewed the rule books but I’m not like some people where my favorite part of the game is min maxing a character for hours or reading tons and tons of lore, my favorite part is playing the game (though character creation is fun). I haven’t fully read the 5e books in all honesty, though I should I’ve never finished them. And I did keep up a bit with the 2024 rules they just don’t seem appealing

But in order to try out 5.5e, you should probably get the Player's Handbook at a minimum. I don't think you should bother finishing the 2014 rulebooks if you don't want to, but you undeniably need them if you want to have the full character or DM options for 5e. Likewise, you need at least one core rulebook - the PHB - if you want to use more than the 2024 basic rules, even if you aren't going to read the full tome. And if you're DM, you really need all three to run anything.
I'm sleepy so I might not be making sense but my point is people buy the new core rulebooks to try out the new version, not solely or even primarily just to read them for fun. And one big reason why buying the new books isn't pointless is because it gives you an opportunity to potentially play 5.5e.

Got an email that my DMG was on its way with a fed ex tracking...
Then a few hours later saying they cancelled my order.
Panicking - I logged on and found 35 pages of people reporting the same thing...

People like D&D so much because they literally never played another TTRPG (not talking about your friends but this is just generally how I feel) and it annoys me that they won’t ever try something new.
