This creature is the Abyss, the ultimate evil of Guter. It cannot act upon a creature without its informed consent, though. The form it is in is the Neighbor, a friendly, helpful man that will always be there for you, even if your goals are evil. He, however, cannot hurt you, much like the other incarnations of the Abyss.
"So, where do you wanna go?"

"Honestly, I'm not quite sure, I've never had this much freedom before. I guess an inn would be nice? Or really anywhere I can get some food and shelter."

*Sorry I'm responding so slow, DDB isn't doing well for me*
"I could bring you to my house. I also know a couple of guys that would be happy to feed and shelter you. But of course, there are many inns in the city, but they tend to be expensive because of tourism."

"Your house would be wonderful, but I will warn you I have knives and I know how to use them. Don't try anything and your fingers will be just fine."
"I abhor violence of all kinds. I would never try to hurt you."
He calmly leads Nat to an average-sized house with a strangely dry sidewalk. The Neighbor opens the door, revealing a relatively normal if off-kilter house. It seems to have been built at a slight angle, and it is full of personal effects such as family photos and children's crafts.

She enters the bedroom, slinging her backpack down in a corner. "Thank you for being so hospitable. If there's anything you need doing in return I'm happy to help, not everyone would be so kind to a stranger like me."

"Oh, no. I couldn't possibly ask you for a favor. You haven't even gotten set up yet! I'll help you get a good house, even if it's just a rental one, and then I'll think about asking for favors. For now, you should get some rest. I'll make dinner."

You're too kind, really. Are you sure you don't want help with dinner? I'm pretty good at chopping vegetables if I do say so myself."

"Sure! I'm planning on making stew. I managed to get a can of whale at a low price, so I'm planning on adding that to it."

"Great! Glad I can be of some use. Whale's a big thing around these parts, right?" She chuckles at the pun.

"Well, I'm pretty sure it doesn't account for personal taste, but as you said, we'll see."
He heads to the kitchen.
Nat takes off her muddy boots and cloak, revealing a pair of colourfully striped socks, and follows the Neighbour to the kitchen.
It is positively stuffed to bursting. Fresh veg and fruits and spices and canned goods; it looks like he ran out of room in the pantry. He's had to get a lip installed on most flat surfaces so nothing falls off.
He pulls a large cast-iron cookpot from a cabinet and places it on the stove, dumping a large blue can into it. The fatty meat inside smells amazing, and gives her a mild head rush when the scent reaches her nostrils.
"Let's get cooking. Now, there are some carrots and onions behind you, so if you could cut those up it would be immensely helpful."

She looks about her in awe, taking in the sight and the smells. "I've never so much food in one person's home before."
Nat pulls a knife out of her belt, giving it a quick wipe on her shirt, before flipping it into the air and catching it. She starts cutting up the carrots with an almost chef like speed and precision.

Nat follows him through the door, looking around her. "Nice place. You have kids?"
"They've moved out. After what my 'friend' told them about me, they didn't trust me. They thought I didn't love them anymore."
He clears his throat. "Anyway, here's the guest bedroom. Make yourself at home, Nat."
