I want you to know. You are going to lose. You are going to lose badly. You’re going to lose badly and it’s going to be awesome.
This ain't a roleplaying tavern, though some sort of roleplay is allowed.
It's a place to discuss the existence of the supernatural.
Something I find interesting about U.F.O and extraterrestrial sightings is that most people who experience them are already firm believers in aliens.
Also, most descriptions of alien sightings are also exact descriptions of sleep paralysis demons. Which is a real hallucinatory experience.
*I apologize for my borderline roleplaying, it shall not happen again. Only the supernatural shall be discussed henceforth.*
Those are very interesting facts, and make a lot of sense. If you 'wake up' paralyzed with a strange figure standing over you then an alien would seem like a pretty logical explanation, especially if youve never heard of sleep paralysis. I think even I might be convinced and I'm pretty skeptical about the whole alien thing.

It's fine. That borderline roleplaying y'all were doing was totally fine. I was just saying you don't have to put the normal talk in asterisks.
Yeah, for more information about sleep paralysis:
Your body goes into a sort of paralysis when you are unconscious to prevent yourself from moving around and harming yourself. Sometimes when you have bad sleep hygiene (this doesn't mean take a shower before going to sleep, it means the conditions around you that affect the quality of your sleep) or for other reasons you will wake up but still be in that paralyzed state. This is also often accompanied by a suffocating feeling, like someone is sitting on your chest. This is because you breathe differently when you are asleep and your body hasn't gotten out of that state yet. Your body is acting like it's asleep but your mind is awake. At least partially. Sometimes this is accompanied by strange hallucinations of a dangerous dark figure somewhere in the room. A horrible feeling of dread often grips you while you are in this state.
Sleep paralysis typically lasts under two minutes, but it probably feels much longer. Being touched, talked too, or moved by another person can help stop the sleep paralysis.
Typically, young people in their teens or early twenties are the few that experience sleep paralysis. Those who have trouble dealing with stress experience it most often. A little less than 10% of people experience it at least once in their lives.
I have read many accounts of aliens and cryptids and so many of them can be easily explained as an episode of sleep paralysis. It is one of the stranger things about our world and I totally understand why people would think it is sleep paralysis. I doubt that intelligent life exists, (according to the statistics, that means I won't experience a U.F.O. encounter) but I would be surprised if animals or some sort of alien microorganisms could be found.
Thank you for the information :) The human brain really is a crazy thing. Sleep paralysis sounds super interesting, I might look more into it.
And yeah, when I said I'm skeptical about aliens I very much meant intelligent life forms, although it's fun to think about them existing. I'm pretty convinced they'll find some kind of basic alien life one day, it seems unlikely that we're the only ones out there.
It was my pleasure to share some random knowledge. I research weird things for fun, or when I am supposed to be doing something boring. It is a strange form of procrastination I have.
I do the same. Sometimes I fall into the rabbit hole of weird wikipedia pages when I'm looking up stuff for school and learn all sorts of strange things.
Imagine driving down an, empty, straight, highway late at night in the middle of nowhere. Suddenly, you find that you are standing outside your car several miles towards your destination, and you look at your watch and you have skipped several hours. Your clothes are slightly torn and ripped, and you have no recollection of driving this far, tearing your clothes, and the time change makes no sense.
Hmm.. I think as someone who doesn't believe in aliens (at least not aliens who would go around abducting people) my mind would probably go to dissocation, being drugged or even kidnapping first, but I can definitely see how aliens could seem like a possibility.
Honestly, my first reaction would probably be aliens. That is because I have an overactive imagination. However, after the initial shock and confusion dies down I would start thinking reasonably.
I can't remember the names of the people who experienced this, but there is a famous couple who claimed they were abducted by aliens and experienced strange things similar to this.
The thing is, it is strange but not unreasonable. What they may have experienced was highway hypnosis. This is a phenomenon that occurs when a tired person drives long distances on a relatively straight, low traffic road and it results in seemingly lost time and no memories of anything during the occurrence. It can feel very strange to have this happen to you, and it is understandable why aliens would be too blame.
However, the people who I am speaking of do not have entirely trustworthy accounts. The couple both described the aliens, but their descriptions were completely different. Later, one of them changed their description to match the other. They also were firm believers before the encounter. They had believed that aliens had existed long before they were "abducted" and one of their descriptions matches up with the appearance of an alien from a movie they had watched only a few nights before the encounter.
This is just something I found interesting. I have read about the account in multiple sources but it took some digging before I found anyone who gave this information and a reasonable explanation.

I think it means they aren't actually roleplaying.

Is an alien abduction a reasonable explanation?
