“Alright Zero. Are you hungry? I can buy you something to eat.”

She offers her hand to Zero and smiles at him.

'Zero always hungry'

He swats at her hand, not knowing what to do with it

“Oh. I’ll get you a bit of food. Can you come with me please?”

She starts to head out of the alley, looking back to see if he is following her.

He scuttles after her, kinda nervous but also excited

She chuckles softly and heads to a nearby fast food place, checking to see if he is still with her or if he wanders off.

He follows her, his eyes darting about. 'Go in there? Smell good'

He points to a Japanese takeaway

“Good Choice Zero! There is some good stuff in that place.”

They head inside and sit in a booth in the corner of the room. A waitress comes by and Anna orders a cola and a water to start.

Zero looks like a kid in a candy store

*the name zero is reminding me of The nightmare before Christmas lol. I loved that movie and I rewatched it for the first time in years.*

She hands him a menu.

”Which one of these pictures looks good to you? I can ask them to make some food that looks like any of them.”

*i don’t know Japanese food that well so I hope you do.*

'Me want'

He points to what looks like a plate of mushroom noodles

“That looks delicious, i might get some for myself.”

The waitress comes back with the drinks and takes the order of two plates of mushroom noodles for takeout.

She takes a sip of her cola and sets the water down in front of Zero.

“I got you some water too. Be careful though I don’t want you to spill it.” 

Zero laps up the water like an animal, and stuffs his face with the noodles. 'So. Good.'

She chuckles, embarrassed at the looks she is getting from other customers.

”I-I’m glad you like it bud.”

She quietly eats her own noodles and pays the waitress when she comes back to the booth.

'Where is home?'

“Down the street. I live in an apartment building. I’m hoping to buy the whole building eventually.”

She gets up and beckons Zero to follow, before apologising to the Staff for the noise.

'Apartment building?'

Zero scuttles after her

“It’s a bunch of houses built on top of each other for places with a lot of people.” 

She does something on the screen on her forearm and before long it makes a cash register sound.

'Sound good!' Zero's eyes light up at the sound of the cash register noise. He seems to like it

He hears another one a minute later from it, and a minute or two later they arrive at the apartment building. There is a twin mattress box and a reusable bag sitting outside the door.

”I bought you some stuff Zero!”
