It’s mostly just Finn scolding him and forcing Cage to explain. He said he was doing sit-ups when three spikes shot out of his leg and pierced his chest. He mentions Sam once or twice when Finn asks what he did after that.
Finn ends up numbing and stapling the wounds, as that’s the best he can do at this point.
