I'm a story writer too! I find that what I want to say can't always fit into verses and rhyme schemes, so I put myself into my characters and make their stories instead. My own D&D characters are accidental self-inserts most of the time.
I can show you what I have but it's a bit...long. Because it's actually a monologue I wrote recently that I'm trying to re-format into a poem.
