I'm working on a TTRPG with/for my Discord friend group, and one of the class concepts interested me a lot, and I might make it a subclass for 5e.
See, the TTRPG has a crafting system where you gather dice that represent crafting ingredients. It's a core mechanic, kind of like magic in DnD. Every class gets their own recipes, allowing them to consistently have access to items that matter to their class.
The class I'm thinking of is called the Provisionary. They can turn corpses into ingredient dice based on the "core die" (each enemy uses just one die size for almost about everything), and they can combine ingredients to create larger and more valuable dice through trading with an eldritch god of slaughter and industry, allowing them to craft stronger items.
Their recipes are primarily terrain objects (traps, walls, barbed wire, the like) and food, limiting their direct combat ability but granting them a sort of batman-style "solos with prep" situation.
Other classes get things like blood magic, power armor, machine guns, firebombs, robots, and so on. This class's primary ability is the manipulation of the ingredient economy.
The Provisionary is going to be converted to a Rogue subclass for 5e, allowing them to get deployable cover and provide support abilities to the party.
Because the "core die" thing doesn't exist in 5e, it'll be the size of the creature's hit die.
