You could do something like the forest (or whatever the map is) was once a bustling environment full of life and beauty. until an evil mage or something put a curse on the land making it eternally night or something like that idk.

I think the monster ties very closely to the world, so I may wait for Augur to do their monster submission (Cloud has, but I want options)
But like also there is a LOT of world outside of the forest probably and I love worldbuilding teehee
